I got the #5 pick in our draft coming up on Saturday. This is the most important league to me. 10 team. No PPR.
I assume that the following will be available: Gore CJ4.24 Slaton LT DWill
I'm leaning towards Gore due to his reliability and consistency week in and week out, but I really like Slaton this year. Both backs are not expected to time share. Then, there is also CJ4.24, LT, and DWill. I don't want SJAX.
Thoughts? Please help. WHIR

Don't like Slaton or Gore. Gore has never had double digit TDs in his career, and I don't see anything in SF that leads me to believe their offense will be any better this year.
Lot of talk about Slaton losing goal line touches to Chris Brown. He may or may not, but for my first round pick I have to be 100% that he is going to get the goal line carries.
Personally I like SJax there, as he is one of about 3 or 4 RBs that get all of his team's carries....1st down, 2nd down, 3rd down, passing downs, goal line, etc. Rams improved their offensive line, and he is the focal point of their offense. Since you don't seem to want him, I'd go with LT or Deangelo.
I like Slaton this year, I wouldn't buy into the whole losing goal line carries thing he did fine there last season. He is a solid receiver and home run threat out of the back field in a solid offense. Not much not to like.
That's my only point. There is zero question that SJax gets the goal line love. I think picking Slaton at #5 is a HUGE gamble, and 1st round picks shouldn't be gambles.
what guarantees do you have that the Rams actually make it into the red zone more than once a game? I'm more confident in Slaton's TD totals this year than I am with Jackson's supporting cast. He's a great talent but everything around him scares me off a bit.
In a non-ppr, Chris Johnson is out. I like Slaton, but in a non-ppr hurts his value. LT has been going 5th/6th in a lot of mocks I've been doing. Even a so-so LT is good for 1200 yds and 10-12 td's. I may be in the minority with this, but DWill would be a good pick here. He's looked very good in the preseason and J Stewart is hurting w/ a sore achilles. Now, DWill might not put up another 20 td's, but he could be in the 13-16 td range. I'm with you, I'd stay away from SJax (esp. in a non-ppr).
I would rank them: DWill, LT, Slaton, Gore, CJ4.24
LT because other than him being hurt last year he should play the same role. His totals in my league were still top 5 and only 35 points off the best.
DWill because the guy is a game breaker and is looking better and better every chance he gets. If Stewy is out much longer I feel he won't be utilized and DWill could put up similar numbers.
I like LT's consistency. The only thing missing from last year was his monster games he used to have. He was fairly solid even when hurt. This year he is healthy and could rebound to prior levels. If so you got a top 2 possible #1 guy with the 5th pick.

I actually think Sjax could be a monster this year so I'd say him or Chris Johnson, who is just so talented despite the time share. Not so high on Gore to be honest, but Slaton could actually be good. I don't buy that Chris Brown will take his goal line carries that's just poppycock (first time I've ever used that word in my life).
