Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks have signed Edgerrin James.

I wonder if he will have any fantasy value. This definitely hurt Julius Jones, and make TJ Duckett almost irrelevant.

WOW...this is actually huge news. A gimpy Edge is 100 times better than JJ. I think this is smart for James and the hawks both!

I like this move too, this catapults Edgerrin James up my board from non-draftable to my last RB, he could turn out a decent season.

I could be wrong but I don't see Edge holding much fantasy value. With Seattle's injuries of their already shaky O-line I believe Edge was brought in for better pass-protection on passing downs. That's something he's always been very good at.

I think it is JJ job to lose at Seattle. That said, I am a little concerned if I am a JJ owner. Edge was openly critical of the Cards and ultimately left Zona because he wanted to be THE guy.

Would he sign a deal with a team if they told him he was just going to sit the bench or pass protect every once in a while?

Or is he just signing the deal because this is a skeleton backfield and he is a little desperate this close to the season.

Again, I think he will be irrelevant barring an injury but it does make me worry a lil bit

Looks like I was wrong. Seattle released TJ Duckett who was their 3rd down back and goal line carrier. Edge could have some value after all.

The most relevant question to me is who gets the goaline carries? I expect both backs will get carries, as I don't see one being significantly better than the other.

Edge has more value to me now than Jones

James said he’s been continuing to work out on his own to stay in shape in case he got a call during training camp, and that he’s not here to compete for the starting job

“I’m not here to compete with Julius, I’m here to complement him,” he said. “I’m coming in here for us to work together and do whatever we’ve got to do. I just want to win.”

Head coach Jim Mora echoed those sentiments. And said the team made move to terminate T.J. Duckett’s contract and pick up James because they believed Duckett was more of a role player and James more of a complementary back.

“We look for him to be a great complementary back for Julius,” Mora said. “We just felt like in order for us to get better we need to add another complementary back. We got some backs who are role players. But in order to run the ball the way we want to run the ball we needed someone to complement Julius.”

So I'm thinking RBBC? Either way our O line is destroyed this year...so no one runs in Seattle. If Mora was smart he'd mix more of Justin Forsett in the backfield.
