6/12 Pick Standard Yahoo

Postby MTUCache » Mon Aug 24, 2009 9:35 pm

Hey guys, this is my first year back into fantasy football in a couple of years, so I had to knock the rust off for this one. New into the league, without much background on anybody. Standard Yahoo scoring, with 1QB/2RB/2WR/1Flex/1TE/1DT/1K and a bunch of bench spots for whatever.

Here's my roster after the draft (along with the round they got drafted in):
QB: Peyton Manning (2)
RB: Stephen Jackson (1)
RB: Reggie Bush (4)
RB: Jonathan Stewart (7)
RB: Jamal Lewis (8)
RB: Fred Taylor (9)
RB: Willis McGahee (11)
RB: Chris Brown (14)
RB: Jerome Harrison (15)
WR: Marques Colston (3)
WR: Antonio Bryant (6)
WR: Chris Henry (10)
WR: Deion Branch (13)
TE: Tony Gonzalez (5)
DT: San Diego (12)
K: Nick Folk (16)

Obviously I went RB hard and heavy, with so many bench spots to play with. I didn't go in with the plan of getting a bunch of older guys trying to hold onto starting spots, but it ended up that way. Honestly I'm pretty happy with that. If even one of them sticks (Lewis, Taylor, McGahee) I'll have a very strong running core. The insurance policies of Brown and Harrison help shore me up if they don't. If one of my veteran old guys lights it up to start the year I'll count on name recognition to get me a decent return before they flame out or get hurt.

What do you guys think? Too much RB? Obviously I'm leaning heavily on Henry to come back strong and get that #2 spot. Otherwise my #2/Flex spot is looking rather iffy. Everywhere else I'm feeling pretty strong at.

I like your WR1-3. I think all 3 of those guys will be successful this year. I reached to make sure I got C. Henry on my team because Palmer loves him.

On the other side, I think your RB's are very weak. They are a bunch of guys I tend to avoid. Only one of them is due to get a steady dose of carries in SJax. J. Lewis has his work cut out for him if he's going to keep his job. Also, when the Browns are way back in the playoff race, will he continue to play hard? J. Stewart's situation doesn't look good bc his counterpart is playing so well. I prefer to let someone else deal with NE RB's... McGahee is on the bad end of what I see being a 60/40 split in Balt, Chris Brown may get the goal-line carries, but even that is up in the air. However, with so many of these guys, you're one injury away from having a solid starter so at least there are odds in numbers on your side.

Good luck! If you get a chance, take a look at mine. I've got plenty of my own problems I think: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=441395
