Loaded at RB Weak at WR

Postby Team Gooch » Tue Aug 25, 2009 1:29 pm

Should I make trade before the season to get another top WR or just wait and let the season get going and see how my WR's do?
10 team league start QB, 2 RB, 2WR, TE, K, D
passing 1pt per 30yds, 6 per TD, -2 int
rush/rec 1 pt per 10, 6 per TD, no PPR

Receivers went early and often. As a matter of fact Andre Johnson was #1 overall with Fitz & Moss also going in 1st round. Calvin Johnson, Jennings, Wayne, Smith, & White gone in the 2nd round. I got Forte at 10 Brady 11. I just couldnt pass up on the RB's they were leaving out there in the later rounds.

Starters
QB Brady
RB Forte,
RB Jacobs
WR Boldin
WR Berrian
TE Carlson
K Longwell
Def Chic

Bench
RB Ronnie Brown
RB P. Thomas
RB Felix Jones
RB Bradshaw
WR Lance Moore
WR Percy Harvin

I'm not all that big at making trades preseason unless you are reaping all the benefit. So if someone really needs a RB I would take advantage of it...

Best case scenario would be in week one Pierre Thomas runs all over Detroit...Then use his performance to your advantage and find someone who's RB's did squat week one...Then trade

Can't complain about your first two picks, that's for sure. Looks like your league was WR happy this year.

Personally, I think Thomas has more upside than Jacobs even though Jacobs is ranked consistently higher. I would try to dangle Jacobs out there to upgrade your WR2 spot if you can. You might be able to pull someone like Wayne or Smith if you can find someone who doesn't have a solid RB.

Otherwise, Berrian isn't the worst WR2 in the world. Favre probably won't hurt his output too much since he more of a deep passing threat than Jackson or Rosenfels.

Please take a look at mine:

Unless you can get something awesome in return, I'm not big on preseason trades either. I'd wait through a week or two and try to sell high on some of your RB depth. See who has some WR that are slow out of the gate and see if you can get a great deal on some nice talent. Really, though, I think your team is pretty good even with lack of depth at WR. If you could get another big time WR, I think you'd have a nice shot at the championship.

Take a look at mine if you get the chance: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=441506
