5th pick in a keeper league, how is it?

Postby hezagenius » Tue Aug 25, 2009 1:51 pm

These were the players who were kept from last year:

Randy Moss, Marion Barber, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Gonzalez, Adrian Peterson, Roddy White, Chris Johnson, Jason Witten, Ryan Grant, Andre Johnson, DeAngelo Williams, Ronnie Brown, Julius Jones, Hines Ward, Greg Jennings, Kevin Smith, Matt Forte, Santana Moss, Dwayne Bowe, Michael Turner, Steve Slaton, Marques Colston, Calvin Johnson, Antonio Gates

We start 1 QB, 5 RB/WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 D, 1 K and our league is non-PPR. I picked #5 this year. First 4 picks were MJD, LT, SJax and Gore.

My keepers were Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte

From the 5 spot, this is who I picked in order:

Larry Fitzgerald (I really struggled between Fitz, Brees and Brady since I wasn't expecting all 3 to be available at #5)
Pierre Thomas
Wes Welker
Brandon Marshall (high risk, high reward pick)
DeSean Jackson
Darren Sproles
Carson Palmer (the only other decent QBs left at this point were Eli and Big Ben)
Chester Taylor (maybe a little early but I wanted to lock up the handcuff of AP)
Visanthe Shiancoe
Chris Chambers
Patrick Crayton
Sammy Morris
Deion Branch
Kerry Collins
Heath Miller
John Kasay
Washington
Matthew Stafford

How does it look? I feel very stacked at the the RB/WR spots but my QB spot could have issues.

Projected lineup:
QB - Palmer
RB/WR - Peterson
RB/WR - Forte
RB/WR - Fitzgerald
RB/WR - Pierre Thomas
RB/WR - rotate between Welker, DeSean Jackson and Sproles
TE - Shiancoe
K - Kasay
D - Washington

I think as long as Palmer can stay healthy he should be able to put up great numbers. As far as the rest of your team, I think it looks great with Peterson, Forte, Fitz, P. Thomas, & Welker or Jackson. You cant get much better than that.

I think you're starting lineup is excellent, I really like Carson's value this year if he can stay healthy. Your bench leaves a little to be desired in my opinion but not bad at all ;-D I personally am not much of a fan of holding 3 QBs or even 2 TEs (though a case can be made for a TE).

I forgot to mention that it is a 12-team league. By the end of the draft, there was basically nobody left to take. I took a flyer on Stafford in the event he actually does something. Normally I never carry more than 2 QBs and 1 TE but every year, I always get nailed with injuries and end up starting leftover QBs.

Hopefully someone blows up on my roster and I can trade for a better QB. Our league is usually scared of trades (my biggest gripe in our league). Whenever you propose a trade, the other team thinks you are trying to rip them off and they never consider it even when it is mutually beneficial.
