Did I make a good trade? WHIR

Postby JaysFan » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:25 am

I am in a 12 team 2 QB league and I drafted Rosenfels as my #2 QB. Well, after Favre came back I had no 2nd qb with only a 10% chance of landing Favre on waivers and Byron Leftwich as the only other "starter" available on waivers. Anyways, last night I made the following trade:

I gave up Antonio Bryant and Chris Cooley

I received Jake Delhomme and Zach Miller

I feel like since Bryant was my WR5 that I could afford to move him also because his knee is iffy. I also feel like Miller isn't much of a downgrade from Cooley. Based on my roster, do you think I made a good deal?

12 Team 2 QB Re-Draft League

STARTERS: QB- Schaub, Delhomme
RB- Forte, Wells WR- Jennings, Boldin, Ocho Cinco, Anthony Gonzalez TE- Z. Miller
W/R/T- Donald Brown, Michael Bush
BENCH: Rosenfels, Crabtree
D- Adrian Wilson LB- Laurinaitis, E. Sims, Bulluck
DT- Seymour DE- Tuck, Tapp
S- Gib Wilson CB- Cromartie, Ced Griffin
BENCH: Farrior, Rashean Mathis

No you did not make a good trade at all. You gave up talent in Cooley and Bryant ranked around the 80th - 90th best players available. In return you received Miller and Delhomme around the 160 - 175th ranked area.
The value exchange was terrible in my opiniong. You downgraded.

Agree. Even in a 2 QB league, where QBs are overvalued, it was not a good trade for you (and I don't even like Bryant).

Help me out..

I don't really understand your wording in the question??? Not really understanding where Favre is included?

Per the trade though I think you could have gotten more value from Bryant alone and even more from Cooley/Bryant!

In a 2 QB league where QB's are important I would have hated having Shaub and Rosenfels! I like the ideal of getting a better QB (Delhomme over Rosenfels) but I think you could have gotten a better QB just by trading Bryant and keeping Cooley.

You downgraded at both players (even though Bryant is your #5 WR I kind of consider him as your #3 or #4 since I still feel he has another great year)

Since the trade is already done though it served it's purpose though and gave you a playable QB so all hope is not lost.....you just could have done better!

Do any of you realize that if I didn't make this trade I would be starting Rosenfels as my #2 Qb every week? This is a 2 QB league and I had no available qb's other than Leftwich. Now I have a 2nd starting Qb as we start 2 qb's each week.

Also, realize that I offered Bryant for Cassel, rejected, I even offered him up for Hasselbeck, rejected. Everyone in the league knew I was desperate. I basically gave up my 10th and 13th rounders for his 14th and 22nd rounders but what SHOULD I have done? Nobody was going to give me a better qb for Bryant I already tried. Not Pennington, Orton, I was basically laughed at by the owners who said "why would I give you my #2 qb for a WR who's injured and has an awful qb throwing to him? Qb's are too valuable in this league".

Well then give up someone else besides Bryant?

I'm sure some people in your league are big Gonzalez fans.

Too late I made the trade, and I actually value Gonzalez higher than Bryant.

Considering all of those things, you did what you had to do to fill your roster.
I guess you had to take a hit in your trade values to do that.
