I started a Cafe league with BigBlue2005, creator of several WR/WR strategy threads including one from 2005 (viewtopic.php?t=440120 and viewtopic.php?t=147203) and Kareighuis, who started a similar thread about a RB Heavy strategy (viewtopic.php?t=440337) to pit these strategies against each other.
This year we are seeing a larger than normal number of WRs getting picked in the first round. Maybe this is due to a RB class that has a lot of question marks or maybe it is due to more RBBCs siphoning off the value at the top of the draft. Whatever you attribute it to, it appears that more owners are considering taking a WR in the first round and even pairing him with another WR in the second. This is an approach that is still considered fairly radical by most owners, so the natural question to ask yourself is how does this strategy actually hold up?
We are looking for a few more guys to round out a 10-team league (NonPPR) that will draft tonight (Wednesday 8/26 9pmET). This may change however, so if you are still interested but cannot make it tonight, let me know. I think this is a great opportunity to see if any strategy is better than the other. BigBlue is bound to WR/WR and Kareighuis is bound to RB/RB, but other players may go with any approach they want.
We would also consider putting together a 12-teamer if there is interest in doing that as well. It would be interesting to at least compare the results to the 10-team league.
Post here or send me a PM if you are interested.
