Made some serious trades. Here's my new roster- thoughts?

Postby H00KemH02NS » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:36 pm

Whew. All the wheeling and dealing came to fruition. Here's the roster. 12 team, non-ppr league.

Passing = 1/25 yds 4/TD
Rushing/Receiving = 1/10 yds 6/TD

QB: Ryan, Hasselbeck
RB: Gore, Jacobs, McCoy, Bradshaw, Coffee
WR: Roddy White, TO, Royal, Mason, Schilens
TE: Witten
K: Kaeding
DST: Philadelphia

I could use a RB3, but I love having both handcuffs. I don't think Ryan is that bad because it's pretty low scoring for QBs. I hate having White and Ryan, but he White fell to me.

Thoughts?

Looking pretty strong, I dont love Hasselback but thats a minor point. McCoy or Bradshaw should be able to step up for you as an RB3.

I think McCoy could be a great RB3 this season regardless of whether Westbrook is injured.
Love that you have Whitten. That could be the difference maker for you right there as he will likely outscore other TEs on a weekly basis and do so by a pretty wide margin in a lot of cases.

Looks good.

Good team. I think you're solid at all positions.

Your QB position is a little weak, but I think Ryan is being overvalued this year. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. I'd really consider playing matchups and occasionally start Hasselbeck over Ryan (I've got the same plan with Cutler & Hasselbeck but have Cutler ranked above Ryan).

White is a good WR1 and I don't think there's any problem with the Ryan/White combo. I'm a little down on TO right now. His injury is a little worrying. Even if he is back for the start of the season, he's missing out on practice time to learn the new offense and Buffalo does not have the weapons that Dallas did. Royal should have a great year though and I'd start him at flex. Mason is solid as a WR4.

Your Gore/Jacobs combo at RB is great. I think Bradshaw is more than just a handcuff and a decent RB3 but he only has upside if Jacobs gets hurt and even then he probably is in a RBBC with Ware. McCoy could have value too but probably only worth starting if Westbrook is out.

Witten is a great TE but will be sharing more looks with Martellus Bennett this year. I had him as definite #1 TE before preseason, but he fell a little with all of the 2 TE sets Dallas plans on running. I still see him as a top 5 TE lock though and Bennett even has an outside shot at being top 10 (though I'd rather gamble with other TEs, I'll still be watching him).

Overall, B+. Your top 3 players (Gore,Jacobs,White) are a great foundation in a 12 team league but QB seems a little weak. I think you've got a good all around team but are lacking a couple of mid-to-late round high-upside guys (I only see Royal and maybe McCoy) that could push you over the top. It's those high-upside guys that significantly outperform their draft position that win championships.

Thanks for the insightful look. It was a good read. A couple of points, though:
- QBs are less valuable in our league because of the scoring. Ryan still is a low-end, I agree, but not quite as low. And yes, When Hasselbeck goes against the St. Louis and Cleveland's of the league, I'll play the matchup.

- You're right. The White/Ryan combo is risky and I may trade White because of it. That's the ultimate feast or famine and balance is key.

- Witten's still gonna' be top-3.

- I may trade Owens for a safer pick, too. I hate that OLine in Buffalo.

Really like your RB's. WR is ok...not too high on TO this year. If Ryan and White perform, you should be just fine.

Overall, good job. Not a huge fan of your QBs, but they are workable. I would keep TO as I don't know if you're going to get fair value for him. Roddy White on the other hand is being treated as gold this offseason imo, and you could move him for another guy. Good team, you should compete well..

Help me out..
