Keep Calvin Johnson or Romo and give up my 2nd round pick?

Postby Algierine » Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:45 pm

I'm in a 10-team, standard scoring keeper league, and I own the #1
overall pick in this weekend's draft. Adrian Peterson will be
available, as we are only allowed to keep a player for two years, and I
plan to make him my #1 selection.

My question is regarding my own keeper situation. If I keep a
player, I have to forfeit my 2nd round pick. So, I would have the #1
pick, and then I would not draft again until pick #30 in round 3.

My dilemma is that I have Tony Romo and Calvin Johnson on
my roster from last season, and both would be eligible to be my lone keeper
this year.

So, my question is are either of those two players worth giving up my
second round pick? (BTW, that 2nd round pick is randomly selected the
day of the draft, so I have no idea what number it will end up being)

If yes, then which of those two would you keep and why? Or should I
release them and keep the 2nd round pick?

Thanks and WHIR

I would keep Calvin. He is a top 3 wr and will put up good numbers. He is a late first early second round guy anyway so you are not risking too much and getting AP and Calvin would be a great combo. There is no chance I would keep Romo for a second rounder. He is not worth it.

Calvin unless you think you can get a better WR (most likely not) or want a 2RB instead. Romo should still be there with your 3rd rounder.

This should be a no brainer....

Ask yourself these questions.....

Where is Calvin Johnson being drafted?

Where is Tony Romo being drafted?

That should answer your question!

Calvin is going in the early 2nd in a 10 team league. You would have to give up your 2nd round to keep him, meaning this is good value. Romo is going in the 6 - 7 round of a 10 team league and would be terrible value giving up your 2nd pick to keep him. Take AD, keep Calvin, and grab Romo (or someone similar in value) later in the draft at a spot that warrants his selection! ;-D

Ok, well I feel like a jackass! I completely missed that I could also keep MJD! So, same question...keep MJD or CJ and give up my 2nd round pick?

Dude, seriously. Do you even need to ask?

Yeah, All-Day and MJD would be a nice combo. Or do I keep MJD and draft Drew Brees #1? Dammit, now I'm second guessing!?!

I think I would keep Calvin with your second round pick, there are several qb's you can still get with your later picks. I don't see Calvin or any of the other top wr's being available to you, so I would take the wr. Good luck.
