Aside from Week 13, weeks 11 through 16 of last year should sum it up. Young, on a good offense, draftable in later rounds ... what's not to like?

PT is one of the few guys I kept a close eye on last year. I watched him come into games from time to time and he was just explosive and very crafty. Now that Bush continues to have health issues, I'm pretty sure Pierre is going to get a bulk of the carries. Even if it ends up 50/50 he's effective and will see plenty of GL carries. I'm mainly worried about TJ Duckett possibly coming to the Saints and taking over that role. I draft tomorrow for my $ league so I won't know the news in time... but it's still not keeping him off my radar in the late 3rd rd.

The Saints had the 4th most rushing touchdowns in the NFL last year and Deuce McAllister had six of those. PT could be in for a nice double-digit touchdown season with receiving yards/touchdowns to boot.

Since Payton has gotten there the Saints have averaged nearly 18 rushing TDs a year. Thomas should have a great year as long as Mike Bell is just for show, which I think he is.

B/c Reggie Bush is not really a RB. They are on field at same time, so think of PT as the only RB there.

When asked whether the Saints would employ a three-back rotation this season, coach Sean Payton responded, "I think so." Thomas (knee) may lose some touches in the Saints' backfield due to this development, reports the Times-Picayune.

Any value in these statements? This is worrisome to me. Could his MCL "strain" be worse than we know?

Depends on how you define "rotation". If you mean Bell coming in for 4 carries a game, then I'm not worried. If you're talking about a scheduled rotation like they are talking about in Tampa, then Thomas' value drops significantly. I think this is nothing...Bell is just a backup.

I smell a RBBC...

Drew Brees calls backup RB Mike Bell possibly the MVP of Saints training camp.

We're trying not to go overboard on the Mike Bell hype because Pierre Thomas is entrenched and the preseason stats are overblown. Still, he's earned a look as a late-round flier, especially as a handcuff to Thomas.

Did not see this coming... TDs are what Pierre has, and if Mike Bell is in the mix and steals 3 TDs this year that will suck.
