Have the 10th/11th picks in our keeper draft...

Postby rousea24 » Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:09 pm

Quick scoring settings:
TD's worth 6 points for all positions
1.5 points for every 10 yards rushing and receiving
1 point for every 20 yards passing

Here's our starting offensive positions and I'll put my keepers in here (we keep 3)

QB - T. Romo
RB - S. Slaton
RB -
WR - A. Boldin
WR -
TE -
OP -

I won the league last year and thus have the 10th pick. I'm trying to do a mock draft to see who would be available at my pick.

Here are the other keepers along with that owner's keepers:

1st pick (LT, Tomlinson and R. Moss)
2nd pick (Brees, M. Ryan and T.O.)
3rd pick (S. Jackson, A. Johnson, Rivers)
4th pick (Barber, Housh, B. Marshall)
5th pick (Portis, R. Wayne, D. Clark)
6th pick (M. Turner, Forte, S. Smith)
7th pick (Westbrook, Jones-Drew, McNabb)
8th pick (Warner, Brady, Fitzgerald)
9th pick (A. Peterson, Ca. Johnson, A. Rodgers)
10th pick - ME (Romo, Boldin, Slaton)

The top QB's available are: P. Manning, Cutler, Cassel, Schaub, Garrard
The top RB's available are: Chris Johnson, Gore, Jacobs, Ronnie Brown, Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas, Thomas Jones
The top WR's available are: Roddy White, G. Jennings, Welker, Bowe, Colston, V. Jackson, R. Williams

I think I can say without a doubt that Chris Johnson, Frank Gore and Peyton Manning will be gone. With our scoring setup, QB's are at a premium, so I could very easily see Cutler, Cassel and Schaub off the board by my pick. That's 6 players...3 more to go. Have to think at least one of White and Jennings will go, if not both, but for the sake of argument, let's say Jennings goes. That's 7 picks. I think another back and QB will go before me and let's make those picks Jacobs and Carson Palmer. Who knows. There's always surprises in our drafts.

If those 9 players (C. Johnson, Gore, Manning, Cutler, Cassel, Schaub, Jennings, Jacobs and Palmer) go before me, the best available QB is Garrard......not so excited there, but don't know if I can wait 20 more picks for my 2nd QB since most of us use the OP spot for a second QB. Running back wise, there's Brown, Smith and Thomas. The best player available is likely going to be at the WR position with potentially Roddy White, Welker, Bowe, Colston, etc. still there.

The wide receiver position is going to have the most depth so logic would say to pick a QB and RB with my 10th/11th picks. Talent wise, logic would say to take a RB/WR but if I go that way, I'm going to have a stiff for a second QB.

Opinions?
1.5 points per 10 yards rushing/receiving
1.0 points per 20 yards passing
6.0 points per TD (all positions)
1.0 points per 10 return yards

4 teams need a QB for sure. 2 teams already have 2. So you can be sure the teams with 2 won't draft another. And you can be pretty certain that 4 of those QB's go.

I think it depends on what you want to be good at. The QB's left will only score 200 -225 yds (11 pts), 1 td (6 pts). A guy like Roddy white will score 80 yds (12) and a possible TD (6). I think there will be QB's left that will put up 200 and close to 1 TD a game when it comes back around.

I would grab Roddy and the best RB available. Then grab a QB when it comes back to you.
