Trade Proposal WHIR

Postby PWillis52 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 3:18 pm

10 man league, redraft. First one of the season, no bonuses, standard Yahoo scoring. 1QB/2RB/3WR/TE/K/D My current team is:

Matt Ryan QB
Frank Gore RB
Ryan Grant RB
Andre Johnson WR
Marques Colston WR
Terrell Owens WR
Kellen Winslow TE
Nate Kaeding K
San Diego DEF

Bench

Kevin Smith RB
Anthony Gonzalez WR
Carson Palmer QB
Cedric Benson RB
Percy Harvin WR
Beanie Wells RB

Proposal is Matt Ryan and Cedric Benson for Trent Edwards and Clinton Portis. My first reaction was that I don't see Portis as a huge upgrade over Kevin Smith or Ryan Grant...WHIR, thanks.

Portis is a huge upgrade and the best thing is you're not giving up smith to get him. Definitely a very solid RB2 Option. Edwards is in line for a decent year with TO as another threat. And in standard scoring where Passing TD's are worth 4 points its not that much of a drop at QB. Eli Manning or Big Ben isn't available on WW?

Pull tha trigger!

No Edwards is also downgrade from Ryan... Sit tight you have a great team! Now when drafting did you draft with chimps? Rediculous line up for 10 man. TO as wr3? K Smith as RB3?
All i can say is wow your set!

My only concern was Carson's health as I see the difference between him and Ryan as negligible, I was very surprised with how well my draft went, especially since I picked in the 10 spot. Do you guys think Clinton is primed for a big season? Redskin O-line scares me a bit.

I would stay put, especially since the washington coach announce earlier this week that Betts will be the third down back. Signifying they want to reduce the workload of Portis.

Thanks a lot, that should limit his TD numbers. I expect Grant to bounce back and Smith is his team's premiere back, it's just that Portis tends to always rush for 1300-1500 yds.

or better yet if you thought about it the logical way what that would mean is a fresher Portis. i think some RBBC are scary because of the splits, but i actually like RBBC like the one considered in Washington for the simple fact it keeps the lead back fresh. Portis is getting older and has had some minor injury woes so anything to keep this horse healthy is what the Skins will do.

way i look at it is this, i would do the simply because without it being a PPR league Smith's value compared to Portis' value is greatly diminished. we have no idea how Ryan will do in his 2nd year, yes he added a big option at TE but its kind of a crap shoot and im not ALL ABOARD on that train just yet. i would do this deal, Edwards is a decent pick at QB, but Carson could be a big surprise for you this year. take the deal start Carson at QB, and Portis at RB2 with Gore at RB1. its crazy to think that you can get Portis for Cedric fricken Benson, thats insane. that will leave you with Portis/Gore/Smith/Grant/Wells at RB, i would then combo Edwards/Grant or Smith/TO for a top WR like Megatron, Moss or Steve Smith and a QB upgrade over Edwards.

A big thanks to deluxe_247 for the sweet sig!

Does anyone else think Carson will have a better season than Ryan. If I look at it that way then it's basically Matt Ryan for Clinton Portis. Cedric Benson should get a ton of carries but I can't see him playing ahead of Gore/Grant with Smith mixed in there. What if I got him to throw in Roddy White and I include T.O.?
