2 for 2 pre draft trade

Postby Ski » Thu Aug 27, 2009 9:29 pm

I need some help. I am in a 12 team re-draft league. Standard scoring. I have the #3 pick overall. I have an extra 5th round pick (55). The guy with the #2 overall pick wants to trade me his 47 and 50 (4th and 5th) for my 27 and 75 (3rd and 7th). I really like it and am thinking of doing it. I would have 5 picks from 46 to 55. This seems almost to good to pass up. What do you guys think? Any information is appreciated. Thanx.

Personally I wouldn't do it. The talent pool drops considerably after round 4 in a 12 team draft. It is not worth giving up your 3rd round pick. Too many good players still on the board.

i made a deal like this last year, and had a bunch of mid round picks, almost exactly like what you would have (i too thought i couldn't go wrong), and 204 nailed it:

the talent dropoff at the 3/4 turn is really profound, and you'll end up picking up a lot of mid-tier, "meh" players that won't hurt you, but won't win you games either. secure a stud with your 3rd rounder. last year, my team had incredible depth, but it didn't have any real standouts. i lost in the first round of the playoffs.
