Last mock before the real deal...

Postby GoodStash » Thu Aug 27, 2009 10:31 pm

I finalized my strategy and stuck to it...This is about as good as an example of what my team will look like. If there is any weak spot that ya'll think I should be concerned about, please let me know. I drafted 8th in a 10 team league. I'll be sure to help in return...

QB: D. McNabb
RB: S. Jackson
RB: S. Slaton
WR: R. Moss
WR: D. Bowe
W/R: E. Royal??? I'll have M. Lynch in when he returns
TE: O. Daniels
DEF: Dallas
K: J. Elam

Bench: M. Lynch, L. Coles, W. Parker, M. Cassel, C. Benson, T. Ginn jr.

Here's my draft order:
1. Steven Jackson (StL - RB)
2. Randy Moss (NE - WR)
3. Steve Slaton (Hou - RB)
4. Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR)
5. Donovan McNabb (Phi - QB)
6. Marshawn Lynch (Buf - RB)
7. Eddie Royal (Den - WR)
8. Owen Daniels (Hou - TE)
9. Laveranues Coles (Cin - WR)
10. Willie Parker (Pit - RB)
11. Matt Cassel (KC - QB)
12. Cedric Benson (Cin - RB)
13. Ted Ginn Jr. (Mia - WR)
14. Dallas (Dal - DEF)
15. Jason Elam (Atl - K)

It's hard to rate based on a mock, but I think your philosophy is sound. Looks like you're planning on going QB late and trying to snag a McNabb type.. I've seen Romo slip down to 5-7 also.

But don't close your mind off at 9 if Brees/Brady is available.. Being able to turn two picks off the bat could net you one of the Elite QB's and WR's, just be prepared to gamble on value later for RB..

My draft last night had a lot of people reaching for QB/WR early and I had Westbrook fall to me at 19 and Pierre Thomas down in round 4..

Point I'm making is maybe run a couple mocks grabbing a Moss/Fitz/Brees/Brady at 1st and 2nd pick and see how you manage.. compare what you see there to your current plan.

Also, Marshall just got suspended by Bronco's.. so that Eddy Royal pick is looking very nice (he caught 90 balls last year and if he goes to # 1 WR I don't care if it's Kyle Orton they still have to throw the football and you can grab hit late for value)

Nice squad, but no way will you get those top 3 picks at the 8th position, in a 10 team league, in your real draft. You may not get any of them at the picks you did, although you would have a shot to get Jackson and Moss at 8 and 13. Slaton at 28?????? C'mon that is ridiculous. Just did my money league and he went 6th overall. He is at worst a very early second round pick, so don't expect to get him in the 3rd in your real draft. The choice you may have to make is between Moss and Slaton at 13 if either are even still available. Nice job anyway...I want to get in one of those mocks, was the mock league's name "Mentally Challenged All-Stars". Pretty ridiculous value at your pick throughout the draft, but as I said I wouldn't bank on that in your real draft unless u have a bunch of noobs in your league.
