Drafting into established Keeper League..HELP!!

Postby snowstomper » Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:24 am

I am drafting into an established keeper league that has basic scoring rules. I have never done this before, and I am confused what to do. :-o It's a 12 team league.

I have the next two picks, and of course all of the top RB's are gone. Who should I take with these two picks?? Here are a few of the players that are available...what do you think? I am up for other suggestions as well, and I'll see if they are available!

RB's - Kevin Jones, Pierre Thomas, D.McFadden, Thomas Jones, M.Lynch
WR's - Steve Smith, G.Jennings, A.Boldin, M.Colston, T.O.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Steve Smith and Greg Jennings would give you 2 of the top 10 WR's. You would probably be able to get one or 2 of those RB's in the next couple of rounds.

I don't have any keepers; this is the first year that I am drafting into this league. All of the other teams do have keepers.

I would love to take Steve Smith and Greg Jennings with these two picks, but don't you think I would be shooting myself in the foot with my RB's? Who would I possibly take in Round 3 and 4? These RB's that I would be picking in Round 3 and 4 would be my starters!

Any more thoughts from anyone?

Get out of this league now!!! Why do they get keepers and you don't? You are at a HUGE disadvantage!

Most keeper leagues with a new team allow the new team to take ownership of a team from the previous season and pick keepers from that team. They are stealing your money!

How many keepers does one get in this league? looks like 2 or 3 ? You should probably be getting keepers + 1 draft picks to start the draft at least.

Pierre Thomas/Greg Jennings sounds pretty good to me. Also might want to consider Lynch or McFadden? Drafting so you can win if things really click for a few picks this year, but making sure youll be set up for the future if you want to continue?

Do you mean Kevin Smith (not Jones?)

Anyway you cut it - you're probably in for a rough year if you didn't inherit a previous roster - you are at a distinct disadvantage.

In terms of keeper value...

RB's -

McFadden - Gamble? Sure is. But I think he is (by far) the most talented of the 5 you listed.
*Kevin Smith - Load back of a horrible team, but 1 of the corner stones of the Lion offense.
Piere Thomas - I like him more than Smith in re-drafts, but not 100% sold on his keeper value.
Marshawn Lynch - Legal issue, suspension looming, who knows if he ever really gets his act together.
Thomas Jones - Old as dirt, last year was, IMO, a fluke.
*Kevin Jones - Undraftable

WR's -

S. Smith - Stud, legit WR1.
G. Jennings - Go to WR w/ a young, talented QB getting him the ball.
M. Colston - Go to WR in a pass happy offense w/ one of the best QB's in the league getting him the ball.
A. Boldin - 2nd fiddle to Fitz, unhappy about contract, QB old as dirt.
T. Owens - Injured 35 year old WR, well past his prime playing in a new system.
Kate Upton's Husband - dead
Mr. Blonde - champ
Yo Soy Fiesta - dead
Old South - champ
Full of Fanta Tonight - champ
Sex Panther (SB) - dead
Sex Panther (FF) - dead
Sex Panther (IBL) - dead
Sex Panther (Dynasty) dead
