14 team PPR, just drafted Roy Williams!?!?! WHIR!

Postby muhfugga » Fri Aug 28, 2009 9:45 am

So all the news about Roy Williams getting injured came out literally 5 mins after I drafted him last night (shoulda taken OchoCinco!), and I heard about 2 picks later. Hopefully I drafted ok given that I thought my WR2 had a broken collarbone! Let me know your thoughts, and what I could do to improve. WHIR. THANKS!

Standard scoring, all TDs 6 pts, 1 pt per rec for all.

I had pick #13

Roster - QB, RB, RB, RB/WR, WR, WR, TE, K, D , BN, BN, BN, BN

QB -C Palmer, M Hasselbeck
RB - Westbrook, Addai, Bradshaw, C Taylor
WR - R Moss, R Williams, Ginn, D Mason
TE - Shiancoe
K - Graham
D - Carolina

Not loving it, but I am also not used to doing 14 man leagues. Westbrook and Moss are nice but beyond that not really liking your players. Addai is a big risk after a terrible year last year and then IND drafts D. Brown in the 1st round and all reports are they will share. If Brown is more effective (certainly possible since Addai couldn't outplay D. Rhodes last year) then he may get the lions share of the carries. Addai is a higher ceiling/lower floor RB3 option at best imo. I didn't really like R. Williams b4 the injury. He has never lived up to his potential (only 1 good season ever). Carson could be good again but also is a risky pick due to his injuries in recent years. I'm guessing you took R. Williams and Addai (not sure which order) in the 3rd and 4th which would have been picks 41 and 44. Doesn't seem like very good value at those draft positions. I would have gone with a RB like (P.Thomas, R. Brown, K. Smith, R. Grant) at 41 and gone with Ocho Cinco at 44. 85 is a clown but at least he only had 1 bad season ever as compared to Roy's 1 good season ever.

I agree I should have taken OchoCinco, was nearly about to but didn't want to put all my eggs in Cinci's basket as I was targeting Palmer. I think between Palmer and Hass I'll be ok.

Btw, ALL those RBs plus Bush, McFadden and a few others were long, long gone in the late 2nd early 3rd. Would have LOVED Dmac, Grant or Smith in that spot. If I'd gone for a better Rb in rnd 2 I wouldn't have gotten Moss and it's PPR, so I'll take it. Thanks for the opinion tho, we'll see how it plays out.

The more I read about Roy being ready for week 1 the more I like this roster, except that RB2 slot, but I'm not sure what I can do at this point. Ideas?

Your bench is too thin to be able to put together a serious offer for a RB2 upgrade...you might be able to pull something off trading Chester to AP's owner, or Bradshaw to Jacobs' owner. Unless you wanted to downgrade Moss for a RB+WR. Too hard to give advice without seeing other peoples rosters

p.s., I hate leagues with such thin benches. 4 bench for 9 starters blows
