Trading for a top 3 QB, WHIR

Postby PWillis52 » Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:32 pm

10 man league, redraft. First one of the season, no bonuses, standard Yahoo scoring. 1QB/2RB/3WR/TE/K/D My current team is:

Carson Palmer QB
Frank Gore RB
Clinton Portis RB
Andre Johnson WR
Marques Colston WR
Terrell Owens WR
Kellen Winslow TE
Nate Kaeding K
San Diego DEF

Bench

Kevin Smith RB
Anthony Gonzalez WR
Matt Hass QB
Ryan Grant RB
Percy Harvin WR
Beanie Wells RB

I'd like to trade for a top 3 QB, what players should I try to package, hurting my team least in the process?

The guy with Brady has Westbrook and LenDale as his starting RBs with very poor depth in Morris and McClain. Boldin, Jackson and Moore are his WRs.

The guy with Manning has DWill and Thomas Jones at RB, Lewis as depth. Wayne, Ginn and Evans are his WRs.

The guy with Brees has Forte and Brown at RB, with LJ as his depth. Henry, Breaston, Bowe, Royal and Ward are his WRs.

I think Carson assuming he stays healthy will have a very good year. He has Ocho who really wants to be there this year, Henry who has looked outstanding and has his act together and Coles who is just solid. I personally would stand pat and not kill your bench just for a "top 3" qb. If you are dying for a top guy I think you should wait a few games into the season and see if you can buy low on a guy that starts slow.

I had Matt Ryan as well but was higher on Carson and moved Ryan and Benson for Hass and Portis. It's just that Grant, Gore, Portis, K.Smith and Beanie give me a lot of depth at RB and I was wondering how I could parlay that depth into an upgrade at one of my positions.

I agree, why not try packaging TO or Colston with a bench RB and grab fitz/moss/calvin. Target someone with a top receiver and very little RB depth. ;-D

Will do so, thanks. Who do you have ranked higher this year, Grant or K.Smith?

go Carson/Kevin Smith/TO for Brees/Royal (who could turn out to be a very good option this year as a WR2 let alone a WR3 with Marshall being a douche).

Carson/Smith/TO for Manning/Boldin

Carson/Smith for Brady

id do all of those trades in the order listed. i know Carson could be a great option if he stays healthy, but im not going to rely on that personally...

I personally like K.Smith better, he will get 90% of the carries and will have all the goalline duties, though I am a bit biased :-b

The first two trades are overpaying. And your not willing to count on Carson being healthy but are willing to count on Brady :-?

What about a deal like Carson and Grant for Brady or one of the other top QBs? It seems like I'm overpaying but I'll have K.Smith on the bench. Should I make them throw in a depth pick as well?

I don't mind a trade like that... even with smith like bazzy had said isn't a bad trade.
