WHIR early opinions on week 1 back i should roll with WHIR

Postby ramzstriker » Fri Aug 28, 2009 4:02 pm

Ok so my roster is below and i am wondering who to start (with the players that i have) in my rb2 slot with JSTEW being in question for week 1 right now...i know its a bit early but i just wanted some time to get your opinions...

if jstew cant play week 1 i think that one or more of the guys on my bench have it in them to score a td or bust a big run and get me around 10 points for the slot (which would be good for the way my team is setup).

i have:
Willie Parker (Pit - RB) vs Ten Yahoo projected 14.81 pts
-running against Ten without Fat albert this year...at home....pit lost last time they played ten...in for a big game?!

LenDale White (Ten - RB) @ Pit Yahoo projected 6.48 pts
-last year he had 15 att 48 yds and a td vs Pit

LeSean McCoy (Phi - RB) @Car Yahoo projected 5.69 pts
- Car - 119 rypg and 14 tds allowed (in 2008) 7th most 20+ yd runs allowed in '08

Le'Ron McClain (Bal - RB) vs KC Yahoo projected 5.75 pts
- KC - 159 rypg and 25 tds allowed (in 2008) also the most 40+ yd and 2nd most 20+ yd runs allowed last year

Jerious Norwood (Atl - RB) vs MIA Yahoo projected 5.71 pts
- MIA - 101 rypg and 11 tds allowed (in 2008)

i recently acquired fast willie and i think i want to go with him but i wanna know other opinions or if you agree with me

with lendale i know last year he didnt do terrible with 48 yds and a td vs pit (the kind of stats im looking for)..so i think he is the safest bet to get action by my standards

mccoy is supposed to be utilized alot this season and philly wants to save westbrook for the end of the season so i think he will be thrown into the action soon..he is a riskier selection

mcclain is a decent bet to get a rushing td vs a lackluster def

norwood is a homerun threat that i could see getting one or more 20+ yd runs and maybe even a td

i know that this isnt the best situation and my rb2 slot could be better but this is always how i have my teams. i always slot in an rb2 depending on matchup and i have been very succesful in my league with a good qb, 2-3 good wr's, and a stud rb to go along with them...im just looking for the guy that you guys think could break a few big runs or get a cheap td...

any input would be helpful

thanks and LEAVE A LINK!

Its not going to be pretty from any of those you play, but I'd go with LeRon McClain. It may be a three headed RBBC in BAL, but theyre playing the chiefs so they'll be running a lot to run out the clock in the second half after they take a quick lead. With Rice being the one who will get the most carries over the course of the season, theyre likely to save him once the game is decided and send in McGahee and McClain for clean up duty. Plus he is likely to get the goal line carries this year so he may even get a TD or two in the first half before the clean up duty. He's the one there with the most upside, considering White and Parker are both facing tough run defenses. I wouldnt even consider McCoy or Norwood unless Turner or Westbrook get badly injured in the next week and a half.

I'd go with Parker. He's playing an awesome defense, but he is the #1 back hands down and proven. He's the safe play

:-? tough call. I'd narrow it down to Parker, White and McClain and go from there.

Parker is the #1 guy on his squad while White and McClain have to wait their turn. Which makes him less of a gamble imo.

I say you have to go with Parker because he's the only unquestioned #1 RB out of those choices.
