12 Team Keeper League - Keep Two

Postby Herby22788 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 2:26 am

12 Team Keeper league where we kept two from last year. I finished the runner up with last year's team, which meant I drafted 11th this year. All in all how do you think I did? Where am I weakest at the moment.

I kept Drew Brees, and Steve Slaton.

We start 1 Quarterback, 2 Running Backs, 2 Wide Recievers, 1 Wide Reciever / Running Back, 1 Tight End, 1 Defense, 1 Kicker

My team is
QB: Drew Brees
RB1: Steve Slaton
RB2: Derrek Ward
WR1: Anquan Boldin
WR2: Roddy White
WR/RB: Willie Parker
TE: Dustin Keller
DEF: Giants
K: Steven Gostkowski

Bench: Eli Manning (QB), Reggie Bush (RB), Bernard Berrian (WR), Devin Hester (WR), Joey Galloway (WR), Michael Crabtree (WR), Brent Celek (TE).

I see myself Pretty solid all the way around. I think I have almost hands down the best set of WR's in the league, however I may be a little weak at the Running Back position. However I think, well I hope, that my 3 Running Backs are all pretty solid, no real studs no real duds either and that being solid at the position from top to bottom will be of a benefit.

Players I have questions about are Hester, and Celek. Could Celek be a first rate TE in the league, he was my last pick and I think he could have some solid numbers. With Hester, is Jay Cutler going to give Hester some competitive fantasy numbers this year or is he destined to be a bust?

Good QB's and WR's. RB position would really worry me. Bush and Ward are big question marks imo. I like your TE's. Pretty good team. Id try to upgrade at RB and try to trade for a better #2 than Ward and then have Ward as ur flex. Maybe package bush , crabtree and hester or some combo.

I agree, with my depth at Wide Reciever I was really intending to play the matchup game. RB's when the matchups favor them and Wide Reciever when the matchup is in there favor. This real, probably even more so then in other years I would say that the fantasy value of WR's and RB's is a little more even then ever.

The RB position to me is clearly the weakest. I really love Slaton, but I wouldn't touch Ward or Parker. If it's PPR, I think Bush will be a very good RB2, at least until he goes on IR with a hangnail.

Your starting WRs are great, but the backups leave a bit to be desired. Hester is a nice guy to take a flier on, but I'm not sold on him and wouldn't feel very comfortable with him as my top backup. I was high on Galloway until I read a few weeks ago that he might not even make the team. Don't know what the situation is with that at the moment, but that piece of news dropped him completely off my radar.

I think Celek is a great choice as your second TE. The Eagles are going to throw a ton and I'm not sold on their WRs ability in the red zone. He's a nice sleeper to pair along with Keller.

Agreed...not crazy about your RBs... not crazy about Slaton as he goes crazy one week..then is non-existent the next but, you can probably spot play him with Bush and be fine. Parker should put up better numbers this year and will probably be your most consistent back barring his health. He's in a contract year and has a "rookie" (Mendenhall may as well be a rookie as he spent most of it on the IR) breathing down his neck. RBs often do better in those situations.

All in all though, I hope Slaton proves me wrong this year. If that's the case, you have a solid roster.
Good luck!!

Thanks, what happens with the value of Willy not that Mendenhall has gone down? Also I picked up Rashad Jennings today as well, dropping Galloway. Good move or bad move? Does anyone really think it improves my current RB situation to a large degree?

Obviosuly I'm banking on solid numbers out of RB's all year and looking to WR's and my QB/TE to make up the difference
