hey guys! the league i'm in this year is a bit different for me. i'm used to playing 12-team standard scoring (4pt PaTD, 6pt Re/RuTD) but now it's 6pts for all TDs (passing included!) and 0.5ppr. So I wanted to get a bit of advice from the cafe as part of my research for tomorrow.
I pick 4th in a 12-team league. What position/who should I draft? A few points... -I've read several articles within this forum saying NEVER draft a QB in round 1, even if pass TDs are worth 6 pts. does everyone agree? -I was definitely looking to pick up an elite WR in the first, but drafting this high (4!!) should I change my strategy to an RB? -How would you rank PPR rbs? Just interested in what you guys think. I'm assuming that MJD, AP, Forte will be the first three picks. At that point, I really don't know if I'd consider Turner up there in a PPR league...so should I just reach a bit for Andre?
bas;dfkjas;dlkfj so many questions and overanalysis to come!!! hah. but it's the BEST time of the year.
thanks for the help, any and all comments are appreciated. please leave a link if you have one.
Welcome to the world of PPR, first rule is that it typically shouldn't affect the top RB's that much, other than order. My 12 teamer the first round went like this: AP Turner MJD Forte C. Johnson Brees Brady Fitz LT SJAX Deangelo Gore In our league QB's also get 1 point per 10 completions, 1 point for every 20 yards, 6 for TD, bonuses for 300 plus yard games and long TD's and we start 2. So typically QB's go in first round. The 2nd tier of RB's is where you see the PPR RB's pick up, Westy, Slaton, R. Brown, Bush. Solid Catch guys are valuable to balance out big names, W. Welker is a WR1, as is Housh, Burleson is a nice sleeper WR, as he replaces B. Engram who was a monster in PPR in Seattle. Backs like Washington, Sproles, Norwood and other 3rd down backs are ownable and can help in bye week pinches. I would go RB, then try to get a nice WR on the way around, you can pick up backs like McFadden, Ward, Bradshaw later who could be nice RB 2's in a PPR league. QB's like Rivers, Cutler, Eli, Ryan, Schaub will be availible in the 5th or 6th rounds. So try to go RB, WR, RB, WR, QB, RB/WR. I waited till late, doubel digit rounds and got Shiancoe and Fasano as TE's, Zach Miller should be availible late as well. Good Luck Help me: viewtopic.php?t=442095
QB: Brees, Rodgers, E. Manning RB: D. Mcf, Grant, L. Wash, R. Rice, D. Brown WR: Megatron, Driver, Hester, Ginn, N. Washington TE: Shiancoe, Fasano K: Elam D: Packers 12 teams, PPR league
4th pick is the money pick this year...PPR or not, go with whoever is left between AD, Turner, MJD, Forte. AD & Turner are a little better in standard leagues, whereas I think MJD & Forte have a little more value in PPR....regardless, 1 of those 4 will be left..grab him
Since it is PPR, if you can get MJD or Forte, you'll be in great shape. But if you are left with Turner, I don't know if I'd take him that high. I'd be tempted to go WR, despite the conventional wisdom. Maybe you could line up a conditional trade. Trade down with someone and pick up a couple higher-value draft picks later in the draft, but make it conditional on who is available. In other words, tell them that if you can get MJD or Forte at the #4 position, then the trade is voided.
12 Team Re-draft league Start 1QB, 2 RB, 2 WR 1TE, K, D/ST 1/10 yds Rec/Rush or 20 yds pass; 3/pass TD; 6/rush-rec TD
I personally order the top 3 as Petserson Turner Forte
4th is kind of tough.... A lot of people are hyping MJD (so there is a very good chance one of my top 3 fall to # 4 or even further)...
Deangelo Willimas Would likely be MY # 4 pick. Jon Sterart is nursing an achillles injury so it will be all Willimas start the year (and possibly all year, foot injuries can be disasterous).
I just don't like Gore and D Jax do to injury concerns (great backs when they are on the field though). I don't think I would reach quite that high for a WR though, I would look there in rd 2. You will probably be able to get Wayne, Jennings, or R White bottom of half of rd 2 (unless you look QB)
