Any tips for an 18 team league?
should i target certain positions early?

First, you gotta realize you will not have a great player at every position. So I tend to focus on creating a true strength...
I'd recommend going with a top 5 player at his position with your first pick and second if possible. In deep leagues there is a premium on the top end talent in RB/WR/QB. Then fill the other positions but continue to keep your strength to create trade opportunities. In other words, if you end up with later pick and end up with QB/WR then get a decent backup QB and more quality WRs while leaving the RB position mediocre. Since every team will have holes, you'll be able to find a team with better RBs who will need QB or WR.
Also if it is a snake draft, take a look at how many picks are between your own. Drafting at either end means 34 players are taken before your next pick...that correlates to nearly three rounds in a common 12-team league.
