What is collusion? WHIR!!

Postby spyder0314 » Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:19 pm

I keep hearing about trades that if its not collusion, then it should not get vetoed. What exactly is collusion?
Last night my trade got vetoed. The commish said its unfair and its collusive. The trade was my coffee/gage for holmes. Holmes used to be my player before that trade. I traded my holmes/ksmith for the mjd who happen to be same owner. Is that collusion?

Collusion is an agreement, usually secretive, which occurs between two or more persons to limit open competition by deceiving, misleading, or defrauding others of their legal rights, or to obtain an objective forbidden by law typically by defrauding or gaining an unfair advantage. It is an agreement among firms to divide the market, set prices, or limit production.

So the "same owner" was not the commish correct? Sounds like you need to ask the commish "wtf over"?

not its not the commish, and he also mentioned that our trade is perfect example of collusion. He changed league vote to commish vote to veto it himself, then changed it back to league vote, heres what he said

"Welcome to Pacific coast I league! Hope everyone’s excited to get the season started. A quick note. This league is created to provide entertainment and competition among friends. Our goal is to make it as fun and as competitive as possible. We encourage good natured ribbing and some trash talking but please avoid excessive vulgarity on this league.... In order to prevent repeat of last year’s chaos and drama, I will be exercising commissioner’s tools to prevent any of these nonsense from happening. Also, please know that unfair and collusive trades will automatically be vetoed !!!!
I will seek the opinions of other managers and everyone is welcome to post messages and opinions on our board but as the commissioner, I will not hesitate to VETO any trades that I think does not make sense …....For example: JUGGERNAUT and SALLY’S current trade. Both managers have already made a trade early on the season which is fine but to make another trade returning one of the players (Santonio Holmes) involved in the trade to JUGGERNAUT does not make sense! In addition, Holmes is a #6 draft pick only to be traded to two waiver wire players, one of which was picked from the wire the same day the trade happened. This is a perfect example of a collusion and will not be tolerated. Unless I get a majority objection, I will not hesitate to VETO trades like this automatically….... "

Ok, can you say POWER TRIP. Oh man this guy needs to relax. The only thing I am confused with is, how did the trade originate? You traded Holmes and now want to give him back to the original owner? How is that unfair?? If the guy wants to do the trade it should be up to the managers. I do not like the "Commish Veto". That gives the commish way to much power, and this guy loves it. Who care if a player is a #6 draft pick or whatever. If someone wants to do a trade, and the league managers don't care...then the hell with the commish. That really errks me when commissioners think they are all high and mighty! I am a commish, you set the league rules before draft day, NOT AFTER. Sorry I am a commish of 2 leagues, and when I hear stuff like this is really doesn't sit well with me.

Dang dude, you would have scored with that set up!! LOL....I still don't see a problem with it. I mean collusion is being SECRETIVE. Managers had a chance to speak their minds and say yes or no via league vote. If the managers within the league don't care, well the commish is handcuffed in my opinion. I would email the league and ask for a vote. This guy needs to be put in his place! Period.

well it looks like collusion because you traded a player and then traded again to get him back. Collusion is when 2 teams work together to make one team stronger. You made out very well in the trades since you basically traded K Smith, G Coffee, and J Gage for MJD. I'm not sure it's collusion but your friend definitely got the short end of the stick. Commish didn't really have a right to handle it the way he did.

Send your Commish our way. We will straighten him out. League Rules set BEFORE the draft, NEVER after. Just because he thinks someone lost out on a trade does not mean he gets to VETO the trade. The best way to describe Collusion is when two teams try to make a super team by trading with eachother, stacking one team, then most likely split the profits.

Someone always gets the better end of a trade. Its not the commishs job to make sure the trades are of equal value. Its not his job to try to figure out why someone would want to make a certain trade.
