Just traded Roddy White and Joseph Addai for Clinton Portis and Anthony Gonzales. The reason I made this trade is because we start 3 RB's (and only 2 WRs) and my starting RB's were nothing special before acquiring Portis but now they are: LT, Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson, Donald Brown, Jerious Norwood. On the other hand i feel my WR's can take the loss of White: Andre Johnson, Anthony Gonzales, Antonio Bryant, Lance Moore. I think that out of Gonzales, Bryant, and Moore, one top 2nd WR will emerge to complement Johnson. Thoughts?
I think Addai is going to have a decent year and White is a stud so I would probably not have done it. I realize you only start 2 WRs but I would have been OK with starting LT, Addai, Johnson and having a combo like White and Johnson especially if its a PPR league. Thats said it cant be over turned now so hopefully for your sake Portis has a big year and this is Gonzalez's coming out party.
Seems about fair on paper right now. If Addai has a big year, you'd lose out, but I don't expect him to be more than a #2 FF RB, so it's probably a good deal for you.
I dont like it. I am of the new wave WR strong belief. RBs are a dime a dozen and some lower guys will pick up slack. I am also not a Portis fan and think he is on the downswing of his career. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Addai either. So, to me, this was a trade of White for Gonzalez, which I don't like. A stud WR like White is hard to come by...there are like 8 or 10 of those and you were solid. I think your team will be fine though.
I think you made out great. I'm very down on Addai this year and very high on Gonzalez so I think Gonzo will be a very solid 2nd WR for you and your RB's are way better now. Good trade!
I think value wise you might have lost out a bit, however I do think you probably made your team better. I think it is easier to mix and match WR, and the 3 guys you have that you can start at WR2 can all have big years, so you should be able to find a good matchup each week. I'm a big Roddy fan, however having to choose between Addai and LJ each week would drive me up the wall, because they are both big names who are likely to underperform. Portis is going to be a top 10 back this year in my mind because he's not going to have to worry about being part of a committee, he's pretty much a lock for 300-350 touches and 10+ TDs.
