Risky Business -- WHIR

Postby zechs » Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:29 am

Just finished drafting for my most competitive league.
It's a 14-team H2H IDP league. All TDs = 6 pts.; otherwise standard scoring.

I felt that being 6 pts. for passing TDs, taking a chance at Tom Brady with the 7th pick was worth the risk.
Here is how my roster turned out:

QB(1): Tom Brady, Eli Manning
WR(2): Vincent Jackson, Eddie Royal, Lance Moore, Donnie Avery
RB(1): Pierre Thomas, Cedric Benson
W/R(1): Darren McFadden
TE(1): Dustin Keller, Zach Miller
K(1): Jeff Reed
DEF(1): Miami, New England
DB(2): Chris Horton, Kerry Rhodes, Quintin Mikell
DL(2): Kyle Vanden Bosch, Adewale Ogunleye, Chris Long
LB(2): Jonathan Vilma, D'Qwell Jackson, Gary Brackett

I really tried to build my team around what I felt were playmakers given my draft position. I realize that my tight-end options have the same bye-week; I'll decide what to do with TE spot once week 9 approaches closer.

Feel free to rip apart my team on its strengths and/or weaknesses. Thanks in advance and your insight is appreciated.

I think you took Brady way too early and it cost you big time in the RB department. Taking Eli was a bad move too. If you have a great QB there isn't much of a need for a very good back up like Eli you could have waited until your last pick and gotten Pennigton or some other solid QB who isn't high on draft lists. I like your TE and I think you'll do good with your WRs but your RB situation will definatly kill you especially if McFadden doesn't produce.

I wouldn't have drafted a qb2 with brady, you are either all in or not with Brady
would have gone 1 def and 1 te also
and I agree, you're going to need some help at RB if McFadden doesn't pull through

I concur that this team is an "all or nothing" type of a team -- that was what I was aiming for to an extent, given that it is a head-to-head format.
This league only requires to start one RB so I thought I have enough depth at RB with 3 backs (P. Thomas, McFadden, and Benson).
Any suggestions as far as player(s) to target in a trade?

Keep the feedback coming and thanks again.
