FFB Expert $500 Draft and $1000 Auction Results.

Postby TheBlackChip » Mon Aug 31, 2009 1:31 am

So I did a $500 draft on Friday and a $1000 auction on Saturday and I have an $250 IDP draft coming up this Wednesday. Here are the actual results of the draft and auction:

12-Team 14-Man Draft W/ Flex 25/75 “Performance League”. 1QB 2RB 2WR 1FLEX 1TE 1K 1D

I started exactly where I wanted to be, with the 11th pick overall.

Team Name: The Baby Powder Bitch Slap

QB P. Rivers (Round 4)
RB K. Smith (Round 3)
RB W. Parker (Round 5)
RB R. Bush (Round 7)
RB D. Brown (Round 6)
RB L. Washington (Round 9)
WR A. Johnson (Round 2)
WR C. Johnson (Round 1)
WR C. Henry (Round 11)
WR D. Hester (Round 10)
WR. L. Evans (Round 8)
TE J. Carlson (Round 12)
K Garret Hartley (Round 13)
D Patriots (Round 14)

I love going WR-WR-RB this year so thats exactly what I did. I wasn't intending to get Rivers, but he fell to me and I had to take him. Same with K. Smith, I wasn't planning on getting him but I do think he's in for a solid season, so I like having him. While some might see a potential problem with my RBs, I'm comfortable with the upside, even though I had to reach for D. Brown in the 6th round. Obviously I'm solid at WR, and I think Carlson in the 12th round was a steal. Between Bush, Washington, Henry, Evans and Hester I think my flex position will be solid. All in all I feel pretty good as long as W. Parker and R. Bush can stay healthy. I have to admit I don't research kickers all that much in the days leading up to a draft, so I didn't realize Hartley was out the first 4 weeks due to steroids. I still can't believe it but nonetheless I'd say that was my biggest mistake.

14-Team 13-Man “Standard 50/50 League” $100 Cap Auction. 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1K 1D. Very competitive.

Team Name: In Your A** Alllll Day*

$10 QB M. Schaub
$3 QB J. Cutler
$48 RB A. Peterson
$5 RB R. Bush
$6 RB D. Brown
$6 RB C. Taylor
$8 WR C. OchoCinco
$4 WR B. Marshall
$6 WR A. Gonzalez
$1 WR N. Washington
$1 TE J. Shockey
$1 K K. Brown
$1 D Cardinals

It's very tough to get a decent team in this league. Considering the fact that I started by spending half my wad on AD and then sitting out the next 30 or so picks, I think did OK. I know Turner went for $46, MJD went for $45, Forte went for $43, and D. Williams went for $41, so I feel I got market value for AD at $48. I overpaid for Schaub considering Ryan later on for $2. Nonetheless I'm comfortable with what I have at QB with Cutler as my backup. I had no plans of getting Marshall, but when he almost sold for $3 I had to step in; I know he'll be catching balls somewhere this year and I feel for $4 he was a steal. I think $6 for Gonzalez is a very good value. Add in OchoCinco, N. Washington, and Shockey, and I'd say I'm comfortable with my upside at WR and TE. I think without a doubt my biggest question mark is at my #2 RB spot. I wanted P. Thomas, Grant, J. Stewart, W. Parker, Mendenhall or McFadden and I got outbid on all of them. My stupid cousin bid me up on Taylor, if I would have let him take him I could have gotten Beanie Wells later on, but oh well. If Bush can stay healthy or Brown gets the starting job in Indy at some point I'll be ok, but until that happens I can't say I'm not concerned.
