12-Team PPR Draft WHIR

Postby Frank Stallone » Mon Aug 31, 2009 3:09 am

Now, normally, I am supremely confident in all my drafts. However, a disaster of epic proportions occurred when I missed out on all the QBs. And I mean ALL of them. Matt Ryan was the last of the viable fantasy starters available, but since everyone else already had a starter, I waited a few rounds on him. One round too many it turns out.

Scoring in this league is PPR, with 3 yards bonuses at 100, 125, and 150 for rushing and receiving, and at 150, 200, and 300 for QBs. It's also points per completion. And the same yardage bonuses (100, 150, 200) apply to KRs, which make them more valuable than usual. For example, under this scoring, Leon Washington was the #10 RB last year. I'm considering trading Slaton for Brady, because I think I have the RB depth to be fine. Then again, I LOVE Steve Slaton. My QB situation makes me sick. I had the 6th pick, by the way, which caused me to jizz in my pants when CJ made it back around to me in the second round.

QB Ben Roethlisberger
WR Wes Welker
WR Terrell Owens
WR Percy Harvin
RB Steve Slaton
RB Chris Johnson
TE Greg Olsen
W/R Leon Washington
W/T Ted Ginn Jr.
DEF San Diego
K Lawrence Tynes

BN LenDale White
BN Darren Sproles
BN Ahmad Bradshaw
BN Michael Bush
BN Bernard Scott
BN David Garrard
BN Josh Morgan
BN Davone Bess
BN Jerheme Urban
BN Matt Leinart (rolling the dice on a Warner injury)

There is no way I'd trade slaton for Brady in a ppr. I'd have jizzd too for your first to picks. I was praying for 11th or 12th pick just so I could snag both as we'll. I'd think about packaging some others for a viable qb. If you trade slaton for Brady it's pretty much all or nothing with the trade. Even with big Ben and no trades I like your team and it's chances

oh yeah here is why I wouldn't trade slaton. Houston has the easiest final two games I. The league. Games where slaton could easily go 100/100 yds. Do you give up that kind of playoff potential just for Brady?

I'm just not sure I can even make it to the playoffs with a Roethlisberger/Garrard platoon. Last year, the QBs on the four playoff teams were Brees, Cutler (my QB), Rodgers, and McNabb.

I love Slaton and his schedule, but I also have Sproles, who was a top 15 RB in this format last year, on my bench.

I haven't talked to the other owner yet, but the trade I proposed to him was Brady and Derrick Mason for Slaton and Roethlisberger. I've went to the league about five times with the intention of canceling the offer, but I just can't pull the trigger yet. I have no idea what to do.

NIce work with the RB's and Wes Welker...I would wait and see about a QB, because Big Ben had a great season a few seasons back and he could do well again this year. But if you really need to make a move maybe try trading TO becuase of his name value for a QB/WR combo you would be happy with.

I canceled the trade offer for Brady. I like Slaton too much to trade him, even though my RB depth is great, especially considering our scoring settings. I'm considering the T.O. thing, but honestly, I feel like there are only nine potentially great fantasy starters this year (Brees, Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Romo, McNabb, Rivers, Schaub, and Palmer). And I'm not going to give up Owens for Matt Ryan or Brett Favre type that I have slightly ahead of Roethlisberger.

Unless offered a deal I can't refuse, I think I'm just going to stay the course and see how the season starts out. Of course, if Roethlisberger and Garrard are bottom feeders after a couple weeks, my finger will probably go flying into the panic button.

Thanks for help on mine.

Very nice draft overall. Your RBs situation is amazing, all the way down through Bush who I feel will be starting once DMac gets hurt again. Welker will be hot in PPR, and score more TDs this year with Brady back. I love SD defense to bounce back. Do you get double points for TDs if Sproles scores on a return...does your SD DST get credit as well?

21 players on a team...wow! 10-team league?

It's a 12 team league. It's the league that I personally run with all my friends, therefore, it's the only league that I REALLY want to win, lol. I've made the playoffs four of the last five years, however, all I have to show for it is half a championship. Yes, we tied in the championship game. Since then, scoring has undergone radical changes to ensure that never happens again.

And, yes, a D/ST touchdown would give me double points for Sproles. Unfortunately, with my RB situation the way it is, Sproles will likely find himself on my bench for much of the season, barring an injury to one of my big three.

I do like the team, however the Bench number is far greater than most leagues.

Garrard is not bad, he was top-10 fantasy QB last year, and I can see similar productivity this year. Especially with Holt in his receiving squad.

QB Ben Roethlisberger - He might surprise you. Pitt looks pretty pass-happy this year.
WR Wes Welker - Great for PPR and yardage
WR Terrell Owens - Feast or famine.
WR Percy Harvin - Great upside. I like this pick especially with Favre under center.
RB Steve Slaton - Great pick.
RB Chris Johnson - HUGE pick for the second round.
TE Greg Olsen
W/R Leon Washington
W/T Ted Ginn Jr. - Like the upside here.
DEF San Diego
K Lawrence Tynes

BN LenDale White - Good handcuff
BN Darren Sproles - Good handcuff for someone else.
BN Ahmad Bradshaw
BN Michael Bush
BN Bernard Scott
BN David Garrard
BN Josh Morgan
BN Davone Bess
BN Jerheme Urban
BN Matt Leinart (rolling the dice on a Warner injury)

I may not be the best person for this rating and I have never really played with exotic scoring like you have, but your team does look pretty solid minus the QB. I think Ben will be solid, not great, so DO NOT trade Slaton for Brady unless maybe LT or Jacobs is out for the season and you can put in Sproles or Bradshaw every week. Hang tight and you should do well.

Have two trades in the works.

The first one is pretty much a done deal.

I get:
QB Matt Schaub
WR Lee Evans
WR Steve Smith (NYG)

I give up:
QB Ben Roethlisberger
WR Terrell Owens
WR Ted Ginn Jr.

The other one, I haven't discussed with the other owner. And I'd likely only do it if the first trade goes through.

I get:
WR Steve Smith

I give up:
RB Steve Slaton

If both go through, it would give me a WR corps of Smith, Welker, Evans, and Harvin, and my RBs would still be elite with CJ and Leon, along with a matchup play at flex between White/Sproles/Bradshaw. I'd also have a QB that I percieve to be 2nd tier. I would never trade Slaton if I didn't feel I have the depth to do it.
