10 Team ESPN League. Should I drop Shiancoe or Hixon for the 'rising rookie (or anyone in the list in my second post below)'?? If so, who to drop? THANKS AND LEAVE A LINK
STARTERS QB - Rivers RB - Deangelo RB - SJax RB/WR - Addai WR - Boldin WR - Roy Williams TE - Olsen DST - Giants K - Kaeding
I like Davis this season, even if J Lew stays healthy...he will get touches. Lewis, Addai, and Westy are all in very similar situation...starters who could potentially get injured with very good backups breathing down their necks.
Now looking at your team, I wouldnt drop anyone for him. If this were a 14-teamer and your RBs were weaker, I would say go for it. In a 10-teamer, I would stay put. Good luck!
Thanks mykedoc77, yeah I am finding it hard picking him up...simply because while he has looked good, 1) its Cleveland and they can't run and 2) even if he takes the reigns it seems highly likely Harrison would get alot of playing time also. That said, I hate carrying an extra TE (even if its a pretty solid one) and I am not sold on Hixon.
Below are some other guys available; anyone else worth a pickup in place of Hixon or Shiancoe...note I like having sleeper RBs/WR with upside as my last bench guys.
Michael Bush Shonn Greene Michael Crabtree Hakeem Nicks Robert Meacham Devery Henderson Johnnie Lee Higgins Earl Bennett
Norwood Shiancoe and farve for.. James Davis Earl bennet and hakeem Nicks
you never gonna start Norwood unless turner gets injured, and having Davis which will be a starter will be a huge upgrade over him, they are already talking about Lewis possibly not even making the roster, and harrison is injury prone. Davis will start week 1 coming off a nice preseason fo 7.8YPC and 2 TDs.
Second, you already have a starting TE, and there are many more out there that can fill in during the Bye week, like Mcfinley..he could blow up. Same thing goes with farve..any QB will do for a bye week fill in.
Earl bennet will lead the bears in Receptions this year, him and cutler are old teamates and Friends, and they have great chemistry together..much better then hester. Cutler doesnt like hester, sure he will be a deep threat, but its bennet who will benifit the most out of the situation in Chicago.
hakeem Nicks will be a starter..he looks nasty in the preseason, and the giants drafted him to replace Buress, he is still a rookie yes, but he catches everthing tht is thrown his way, and he is rapidly becoming a fav of manning and the coaches.
A word of advice, make a trade to the Turner Owner for Norwood and Farve for someone else, and then grab bennet and davis.
i would aslo try to trade Steve Jax, he is way to overvalued in that failing O-line especially. Trade Jax while his value is still high. I promise you tht James Davis will produce more then him this year
Hmmm...Ok I think I am convinced I need to pickup Davis and Bennett. Not agreed that I need to get rid of Favre, Norwood, and SJax though. Right now I have a waiver dropping Shiancoe for Davis. The problem with getting rid of Favre is I need a backup QB in case Rivers gets hurt...all other serviceable QBs are on teams so I feel better having an OK backup. I don't really want to get rid of Norwood either as he is explosive and if he somehow works more into the offense (either by injury or more playing time) he could be huge. Also, I don't see anyone on Turner's team I would want. Finally I am big on SJax...I love all around backs so he is going no where...yeah his line isnt great (although they did improve it with some pickups) but thats why they often throw to him...he'll get his points imo.
So I still really do want Bennett but it would have to come with dropping Hixon and I guess its almost a coin toss then. Any opinions?

Yup, I am leaning this way right now...plus having diversity (as in not starting two Bears ever) is usually a plus...though the Bennett-Cutler connection is intriguing. Thanks again!
