Draft Strategy in a Non-Standard Points League, Passing TD's

Postby mbea02 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:19 am

My league has a points system weighted towards QB's. Passing TD's are worth 6 pts, the same as Rushing TD's and Receiving TD's. Full details below.

I have the 4th pick in a 14-team league. Should I stick to the standard strategy of targeting Turner/Forte, or should I take Brees/Brady? If I wait until round 2 or 3, I would likely end up with a Romo/McNabb type.

Thoughts?

As long as its still 1pt per 25 passing yards (or more), I'd stick with your original strategy. I play in a league with those settings and 6 pts vs 4 pts doesn't really affect the value of a QB all that much in my opinion. You should be able to get a Rodgers, Rivers or Romo in the third round after you've locked up a stud at RB and WR. Mcnabb, Ryan, Schaub, Cutler should be around in the fourth to sixth if you can wait that long. I think that's a more sound strategy then picking a QB in round one.

I don't think that you can pass up one of the top rb's with the 4th pick. You can still get a top qb with your 2nd or 3rd round pick. Good luck.
