I went into RB frenzy... HELP.

Postby mathiasbaumer » Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:28 am

Here's the deal... I apparently love RB's. I drafted quite a few and even picked up a couple. I am without a defense or kicker right now because I felt RB's might be helpful.

I need to keep 5-6 not the 8 I have on my roster. I am attempting many, MANY, trades... people just don't want RB's for anyone in my league. (Something I didn't count on, for obvious reasons.) Everyone is quite content with their LenDale White/ReggieBush starters and their one Julius Jones back-up. This is a problem, because I'll have to drop some, and the wrong hands will use them effectively, and boom... I've hurt myself. I need to get the BEST of these. Here's my team (Other team advice is helpful too)

QBs
Jay Cutler
Carson Palmer

WRs
Greg Jennings
Roddy White
Bernard Berrian
Kevin Walter

TE's
Visanthe Shiancoe

RB's (UGH)
Steve Slaton
Jonathan Stewart
Joseph Addai
Marshawn Lynch
Donald Brown
Cedric Benson
Derrick Ward
Ahmad Bradshaw

(Already going to drop Benson. I am a Giants fan, so Bradshaw and Ward are the picks I console myself with not getting Jacobs. I like Slaton and Stewart a lot, but Stewart is really scaring me with the Achilles.)

I don't know.

P.S. The league rewards players for KR TD's, but I'm not sure that matters at all. Otherwise Standard Scoring league with 12 teams and 3 weeks of playoffs. I'm allowed 6 reserves.

I have a very similar team. My advice is to drop Benson, the Cinci line is questionable. Next would be either Ward, Bradshaw, or Brown. Kind of a toss up. I'd drop Bradshaw - too many in that backfield. And regarding your league, people may not want to trade RBs now because they just drafted, but they will once the season starts.

(12 person league, H2H, standard yahoo scoring)
QB Carson Palmer
QB Matt Hasselbeck
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Marion Barber
RB Reggie Bush
RB Beanie Wells
WR Greg Jennings
WR Brandon Marshall
WR Donnie Avery
WR Jerricho Cotchery
WR Sidney Rice
WR Chris Henry
TE Visanthe Shiancoe
K Nate Kaeding
DEF Indy

I think Benson and Brown are the most easily dropped...and I don't like the idea of dropping anyone else but if I had too it would probably be JStew at this point. I guess you could consider Bradshaw but he'll have standalone value and if Jacobs goes down you have a solid starter behind an awesome O-Line. Ward...I really don't know, I avoided him completely with that 2-2-1 talk but he may end up being a productive starter too. Not a guy a like but definitely a guy someone will want on their bench.
But anyone beyond Benson and Brown will almost certainly be scooped up. Honestly, I am not a fan of not drafting a DEF and K. All you do is tip your hand on guys you like and end up dropping them anyway for the most part.

I actually drafted K and Def and dropped them for Bradshaw and JStew who came onto waivers due to a trade.

Both of them are players I love this year. I figured on Benson and Brown for drops.

Still, I feel like my position is strong. (Washington and Carolina are on waivers for D's) Not much room there, I had drafted the panthers. Defenses went very early in our drafts (I thought)
