I wanted to get some feedback about taking Andre Johnson with the 5th pick this year in a snake draft. Our scoring system is as follows:

1 pt. for 10 yds rushing/receiving
1 pt per reception
1 pt for 20 yds passing
6 pts for all touchdowns
No negatives of any kind

We start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE and 1K
We are required to maintain a roster of 3QB, 4RB, 4WR, 2TE and 2K at all times

I did a scoring analysis and there is no one in the RB/WR positions that scored more than Johnson in a PPR scoring system last year.

Here is the breakdown (DRAFTED- will be gone by my pick at 5)

DeAngelo Williams 307 pts
Matt Forte 303 pts (DRAFTED)
Calvin Johnson 279 pts
Maurice Jones Drew 278 pts (DRAFTED)
Ladanian Tomlinson 277 pts (PROBALLY DRAFTED)
Michael Turner 276 pts
Thomas Jones 274 pts
Steve Slaton 269 pts
Brian Westbrook 268 pts
Greg Jennings 265 pts
Tony Gonzalez 261 pts
Adrian Peterson 257 pts (DRAFTED)
Steve Smith 257 pts

I think you see my problem here. AJ to me has the least warts and a very favorable schedule as far as the players that would be available to me at 5. Fitz is great but Warner has never played a 16 game schedule 2 consecutive years and Leinart is a huge dropoff. Deangelo is great, but he shares way too much time for my taste and Turner doesnt catch the ball at all.

Please give me some input into what you think of the AJ at 5 scenario please. I will help in return.

I would take LT if he's available otherwise I think AJ would be a solid choice.

Don't take LT. AJ or Turner.

LT will be nothing but headaches.

I'd take Turner over AJ of LT2.

You have to figure out who you will be able to get at running back if you go for AJ that early. I guessing there wouldn't be much to pick from when you went to draft your #2 and #3 running backs.

If this were pick 11 or 12 in a 12-teamer, maybe...at pick 5 you gotta go with LT here, possibly D Lo. Watch for Forte to fall to you though, a Fitz or Brees pick in the top 4 will help you out.
