Back-Up QB? Cassel or Russell?

Postby Wags » Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:39 pm

I went through my draft without picking up a back-up qb. All I did was grab Rogers as my starter. Figured I stock up on RB/WR and reap the benefits, which I think I have, but now I'm in the market for a back-up QB after I've recently dropped Chester Taylor.

Cassel went undrafted so I picked him up just to make sure no one stole him. There's a few more guys that look appealing to me. Gerrard, Delhomme, Russell, and Hill are still all available. I like Russell's match-up the week Rogers is off (NYG), but I'm not sure If I want to give Cassel up. He has great games down the stretch (CIN and CLE) and has an easier schedule. Guess it just depends..do I want a QB for the bye week, or do I want a back-up?

What does everyone think?

Take Cassel, he has a bettter WR corps. The Raiders are a mess and while their #1 pick DHB is fast he catches with his chest instead of his hands. Supposedly he's dropped 1/3 of balls thrown to him in practice,

Cassel, easy. Russell has too much to prove -- he's a speculative 3rd qb, not the 'safe' play you want for a primary backup. But then, I'm not much of a Russell believer.

Garrard and Delhomme could be serviceable, too. But Cassel's the guy I'd take.
