Is one QB enough?

Postby christensonb » Tue Sep 01, 2009 5:04 pm

Here is my roster and league settings:
Start: 1QB, 2RB, 3WR/TE, 1K, 1DEF
Points: QB- 4pts TD, 1pt 25yrds/ RB+WR 6pts TD, 1pt 10yrds (non-PPR)

My Team:
QB- Matt Schaub
RB- Matt Forte, Steve Slaton, Darren McFadden, Larry Johnson
WR- Randy Moss,Marques Colston, Bernard Berrian, Kevin Walter, Torry Holt, Vincent Jackson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh
PK DAL Nick Folk
Def BAL Baltimore Ravens

FA Qb's: Garrard, Orton, T. Edwards, Hasselbeck, Penningtoin

My question to you is should I drop a reciever (Holt) and pick up another Qb? I'm a little worried about Schaub, especcially given his history and current status. Secondly can I upgrade anywhere else? Thanks in advance.

P.S. Post a link and I'll do my best to respond.

I think your concerns about Schaub are valid. As for the backup QBs that are still available, I would go with Garrard or Hasselbeck. In terms of who to drop, that is a tough one since your squad is stacked with good players. I would reluctantly say that either Holt or Walter should be dropped for the 2nd QB.

Drop Holt for a QB, not Orton. Another option would be to sell off a WR since you have some depth and try to pick up a better QB then the ones in F/A. Just look around the league and see who needs some better WRS

I definitely think you need a 2nd QB on your squd. Schaub is already hurt & will be a concern all season. Plus you'll need it for the bye weeks. I'd drop Walter over Holt. I think Holt is going to have a comeback receiver & is far and away the #1 option in Jacksonville. You may even want to try & trade one of your WR's for a good back up QB instead of dropping a player.

I don't see Schaub making it 16 games healthy. You need to grab another QB. I would try to work out a trade instead of dropping a player. I would try to package LJ/Holt for a QB. Some people will still value these guys just because of their names.

i actually think you will find it difficult to find a team willing to trade one of its QB's if they are better than say Garrard. I personally think he will be a very serviceable QB, and has a good chance at cracking top-10. Hasselbeck's upside is also top-10... so it seems you have or will have good options if Schaub is hurt/bye. I would drop Holt for either of those QB's if I were you.

* BTW, I am also going in w/ one QB, Palmer, and will need to figure out a back-up...
