RB or WR In Rd 1? (I'll Help U As Always)

Postby Lucky7 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:36 am

10 team redraft with 2 keepers, standard scoring, no ppr.
I have the 6th pick.
I kept CJ424 (7th round keeper) and Royal (13th round keeper).
Who do I pick with the 6th pick in the first round?

With the various players being kept, I think I will have the the following choices:
1. Pick Gore or Westbrook in round 1 and someone like Calvin/Wayne/Jennings in round 2. OR
2. Pick RMoss in Round 1 and someone like Brown/KSmith in round 2.

What combo looks better?
1. Gore/Westbrook+CJ424+Calvin/Wayne+Royal OR
2. Brown+CJ424+RMoss+Royal.

Leave a link.

I'm thinking Gore over Moss. If you can get Megatron that's no small step down but Brown would be IMO compared to Gore

Help? Thanks in advance: viewtopic.php?t=442930

If you know you could get Gore 1st round and Megatron 2nd round i would grab that in a heatbeat over Moss/Smith. I like the first option alot better then the 2nd option, but are you sure you can get Megatron in the 2nd round? If not then i say for Moss/Smith because going from Gore/Calvin to Gore/Wayne is a huge drop and a big drop even compared to Smith/Moss... you have to be sure you can get Calvin 2nd round otherwise take the safe route and go with Moss first round and Smith second round.

help me out...

I'm not sure about getting Calvin in 2d. I dont see any WRs going before my 6th pick. Here's who picks 7,8,9, and 10 have kept:

#7: kept Hightower and MRyan (could go RB/WR in rounds 1-2)
#8: kept MTurner and PThomas (likely will go WR/QB, maybe WR/WR)
#9: Kept ADP in 1st round (likely will go RB in 2d)
#10: Kept Rivers and A Bryant (likely go RB/RB)

Likely players available before my #6 pick in round 1:

RBs: Gore, Westy, Jacobs, Barber, Portis, Brown, KSmith
WRs: All of them

If I pick Gore, there will likely be 4 more RBs picked before I pick again (Westy, Jacobs, BArber, Portis)
AND
2-3 WRs picked (Fitz, Moss, AJ)

That leaves Calvin available.

Do I take the risk and pick Gore???

I'll answer yours now.

That's a tough one. I like Gore/CJ over Moss/Smith definitely. So the risk you're taking is that someone will take CJ before you. If your analysis is correct, there would be no more than 3 WRs off the board before your 2nd round pick. CJ could go 3rd (in WRs) but that would still leave you with a top 4 WR. I would do Gore and take the risk you get CJ. Best of luck to you!!

Help with mine please?

+1 here... i would risk the WR situation in the 2nd round. Go with Gore and if for some ungodly reason all 3 WR are gone (btw you haven't even mentioned Fitz so you still have actually 4 WR options with that 2nd pick) then your gonna get one hell of a RB Duo that you could trade away after the draft for some WR help. I say go with Gore and take one of the top 4 WR left out of (and i list them the way I, and i say how I would draft them) CJ, AJ, Moss, Fitz. good luck to you!

Re: URGENT-Draft at 5pm. RB or WR Rd 1 (I'll Help U A Aways)

if i knew for sure u would get calvin then i would say go ahead and take gore. In a non ppr guys like moss and calvin stand out alot more. I prob wouldnt chance it because if these guys are any good calvin would be gone before you get a chance to get him.... therefore i would grab this years top wr by far in a non ppr league randy moss.....brady and moss will put up monster numbers this year. Moss could easily get 18 tds. i do love ronnie brown this year i think ricky is done.....but i also love kevin smith. I dont think gore stands out too much over them.......i would take moss and then KS or RB.....its hard to pass up kevin smith but damn brown i really think he will be a top back this year

Just finished the draft and ended up with Gore and Moss (chose Moss over Calvin).

QB: McNabb (Edwards)
RB: Gore, CJ424 (J Stew, McCoy, Coffee)
WR: RMoss, AGonzalez (Royal, LMoore, CHenry)
Flex: Ronnie Brown
TE: Gates
K: Akers

Thanks for the help
