Last nights weird draft results...

Postby Jai » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:39 am

After some great advice from some cafe members (that I unwittingly ignored) here's what I ended up drafting. Had the 6th pick in a 14 team league: 1 PPR, this league rewards return yards big time and the rest is pretty standard I guess. Let me know what you think...do I have a contender?

QB Trent Edwards
WR Andre Johnson
WR Calvin Johnson
RB Ronnie Brown
TE Kellen Winslow
W/R/T Bernard Berrian

BN Joe Flacco
BN Ryan Grant
BN Percy Harvin
BN Leon Washington

K Garrett Hartley - Is this guy even the kicker for NO?? I din't look into K's at all.

DEF San Diego

LB Jon Beason
DT Darnell Dockett
DE Robert Mathis
S Michael Griffin
CB Leodis McKelvin

Some weird things (imo) went down in this draft that I'll probably be kicking myself for further down the road. Anyone who reads this will probably wanna kick me for passing on some of the guys (there was a method to my madness atleast)that inexplicably dropped in this draft.

Brees and Brady went one and two, followed by Fitzgerald, Matt Forte and Peyton Manning, yup Manning went 5th overall. I drafted Andre Johnson at 6, yes I let Adrian Peterson and MJD walk right on by. :-t (I won last season when I picked Moss and Johnson with my first 2 picks so I wanted to keep the same formula). So ADP went 7th, followed by M. Turner and MJD dropped all the way to 9, which was topped by Phillip Rivers going 10th, 11 . B. Westbrook, 12. LT, 13. SJax and Aaron Rodgers with the last pick of the 1st round. This had to be one of the weirdest drafts ever, I think you'd be hardpressed to find a wierder one.

Knowing who would have been in the 2nd round, I think you would have been better off grabbing MDJ (who I have ranked #1 in a ppr league) and then Calvin Johnson, Moss or Andre on the wrap around. Even if you had to grab LT or Slaton you would still be stacked.

To be honest, I think you're hurting at RB with Brown as your starter. Edwards doesn't hurt me as much, but he's still below average. In you position, not knowing who went where, I probably would have gone RB - WR - WR - QB/TE - QB/TE.

I would honestly think about shopping Calvin or Andre. You'll be able to get a solid RB. You could do a double trade with Andre & Brown for a like Gore & Houchmandzadeh. This would dramatically improve your scoring and you'd still be ok in the WR department.

I'd give you a 5.7/10
