Draft Strategy at 1.3

Postby Dplymkr88 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 12:06 pm

We have a two player keeper league so I am starting off with Peyton and AP right off the bat, so good start. I am sitting here at 1.3 trying to decide if I should complete my starting RB corp or if I should grab a premier WR...at RB Clinton Portis, Westy and Frank Gore are avaliable, at WR Steve Smith, Jennings, and R Wayne are avaliable. I guess it goes back to the RB vs WR debate, it seems that more and more WRs have been kept as more teams go to RBBC, but in my opinion it makes it all the more important to grab that bell cow running back. Right now I am leaning towards taking R Wayne (since I have Manning) at 1.3 and grabbing a RB on the way back down, I do expect the RBs to go quickly since not many were kept this year....opinions?

Edit: Standard scoring, ten team league. Start 1QB, 2RBs, 3 WR.

Knowing your scoring system and how many players you start would be helpful, but I'll just assume standard scoring until told otherwise. I think I'd probably take Gore in your situation, yes, you already have Peterson, but assuming you start 2 RBs I think he's the best value. Wayne is probably the safest WR pick but I think Smith has the highest upside, although Steve Smith's value is highly contingent on the health of Jake Delhomme, who has proven fragile in the past.

Steve Smith stands out from the group.

I'd go Gore, then Wayne if Gore is gone...Peyton/AP/Gore is a great start

I would go WR, Jennings/Wayne/SSmith in that order for me. You have to start 3WR so you should lock up a WR1. You can afford to take a little more risk at RB2 since you have Peterson.

Agree w/ the above post, w/ a QB & RB being kept, you pretty much have to go WR when you need to start 3.

Smith is the guy I would want.
