Leon Washington RB1 for this scoring system - WHIR

Postby BostonPatriots » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:56 pm

I just picked up Leon Washington. He was undrafted in this particular league. According to this scoring system he scored the most points of any player in 2008.

Scoring System:
6pts all tds
1pt for 10yds rushing, receiving and return yards
0.5 pts for each catch

2008 Stats:
Rushing 448yds, 6 tds
Receiving 47 catches for 355yds 2 tds
Returning 1534yds 1 td
Total Fantasy points 309

2009 Projections
Rushing 441yds, 4tds
Receiving 34 catches for 235yds 1td
Returning 1437yds 1 td
Total Fantasy points 266, which puts him 14 overall and 5th best running back

My Roster: bold are starters

QB: Romo, Schaub
RBs: MJD, C. Johnson, Leon, Addai, LJ, Donald Brown, Mendenhall
WR: Wayne, Housh, Breaston, Harvin

My Question:

To me it appears I should start Leon unquestionably as my RB3. What are your thoughts?

Will help in return, thanks

Make sure he is definitely returning punts and/or kickoffs. His role in the offense may expand which generally means his role on special teams will decrease.

I think that I would go with Leon based on the stats you provided. Addi is a good back but, they P. Manning, Brown & Mendenhal are unproven rookies, and unless LJ returns to his old form Leon would have to be my 3rd RB. Hope this was at least a little helpful.

the deal maker is the 1 pt per 10 return yds. Go with Washington if he is indeed the returner again this season. If he isn't, I'd consider Addai.

Yes. Get him in your starting roster. He is the most explosive player on the Jets and if they want to win, they will give him the ball.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

Yep, I agree - if Leon is returning kicks/punts, he's in your lineup every week no matter what. Good luck!

I'm with the crowd here. Work with your scoring system and start Washington.

my league has the same scoring system (minus the ppr) and Leon was the number two RB last year. The PPR just adds more value to LW, so you are set... He will be a beast for you this year. I've been watching the Jets pre-season games and LW has been returning kicks, so I don't see that changing. Leonard has been doing the punts, so LW might have lost those duties, but he will rack up the total yards. He has a nose for the end zone, so his td totals will be fine. The addition of Greene should keep LW return duties secure, but might reduce his td total (I think this will effect Jones more than Leon) . LW might be your number 1 back this year when all is said in done (hell, he might be the number 1 in your league). Of course, I hate this scoring system, because the situation can change at a moments notice. I vote to change the scoring system each year - get out voted and then win with the stupid scoring system....

Depending on number of teams in you're league - you might want to look at Charles for KC - he is listed as the primary returner and the 3rd down back. LW lite.....

I assume Cribbs is already taken...

other options ---
Felix Jones
Percy Harvin
A Davis (hou)
of course Sproles

good luck...
