Just finished draft and would like any evaluation WHIR

Postby AcronymsFTW » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:02 pm

The league is a 10 team, 14 players roster, PPR league that awards 6pts for all TDs and 1 point for every ten yards rushing/receiving. Including the rounds the players were drafted with the hope I to improve my strategy for another draft I have soon.

I had the 9th overall pick in a snake draft.

QBs
Peyton Manning, IND 3rd round
Tom Brady, N.E. 4th round

RBs
Kevin Smith, DET 5th round
Marshawn Lynch, BUF 7th round
Jonathan Stewart, CAR 8th round
Willie Parker, PIT 10th round

WRs
Andre Johnson, HOU 1st round
Reggie Wayne, IND 2nd round
Dwayne Bowe, K.C. 6th round
Donald Driver, G.B. 11th round
Sidney Rice, MIN 12th round

TE
Brent Celek, PHI 13th round

K
Adam Vinatieri, IND 14th round

D/ST
Tennessee Titans 9th round

My biggest worries are at running back and I'm still questioning myself for taking both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the rounds I did. I a little bit concerned about the TE posistion but might have to live with Celek.

What is your lineup like. For example how many qb/rb/wr do you start.

Im guessing 2 QB's because taking Brady and Manning back to back would be a little overkill if you only start one.

But other then that your team looks pretty solid i like the fact that you have 3 pretty good WR's driver is good value. Not sure about the Rice Pickup though.

i could give a more in depth opinion if i knew how many players you start

ur analysis is spot on. taking 2 qbs early hurt your team, especially at rb and te. good news is you can trade one of ur qbs for a rb

If you start 1 QB, I really don't like taking Brady and Manning, just a waste of a pick IMO. If you start 2 QB obviously it's great to have 2 of the best.

your WR looks damn solid if you start 3 WR, i like your first 3 and i like driver as a 4th.

RB is okay, Kevin Smith i tihnk will be a great fantasy player this year, Lynch too when he comes back. Stewart i dislike at all, i read something today on stewart that suggested he'd be on the IR this year... it was speculation from a beat writer but still i would deal stewart for anything at this point... parker is a sleeper if he plays all 16 games i see 1200/4 out of him.. mendenhall will take about 150 carries though. and moore on 3rd downs.

Celek is a good sleeper TE, maybe if you didnt take Peyton you coulda got witten...

overall looks solid obviously id trade manning or brady in a package with a RB for a top RB.

thanks for the help on mine

Well, since you took two stud qbs and can only start one I would def. be shopping one of them around for a Rb. If it were me I would prolly try to shop manning.

I LOVE your receivers! ;-D Celek could be a sleeper TE this year. Someone mentioned Witten earlier...I totally agree...i got witten late in the 4th (pick 47) in my draft...

Take a look at mine please, I literally just finished drafting...first time for me in a ppr...any insight would help :-)

not sure why you would draft 2 stud qb's unless you plan on trading on for better rb's..

qb - A
rb - C
wr - A
everything else is ok...

@Tayma

Actually only start one QB....and I am kinda kicking myself for taking those two QBs when I did.

I don't know if I'll be able to make a decent trade, but stranger things have happened I suppose.

@ baseketball-4life & FirstAnd99

Witten was taken in the 2nd and by the time I got close to taking one in round 5 most of the other decent TEs were gone as well. Tim Hightower & Beanie Wells (RBs for Arizona) are availible on the waiver-wire, do either of you think that one (or both) of these RBs would strenghten my team? I could always drop Sidney Rice to pick up one or the other.

@ everyone concerning QBs

When I drafted I was taking the best availible players according to auction values and projected fantays points for the season. Manning and Brady were the best when it was my turn to pick. Thank you all for your input, I'll definately look to pick up a RB in trade since the ones I have don't seem to be up to snuff.

I think two things affected your roster:
1.) Taking the two QB's (talked about above)
2.) Going WR/WR in the 1st and 2nd.
This means you didn't draft a RB until the 5th round. RB's are the most consistent scorers in FF and to wait that long may have spelled your doom. However, do not fear as you can trade one of your stud QB's and one of your stud WR's. You have some flexibilty to go after whoever you want with this roster, but itll have to happen through a trade. Hope you have a league where guys are willing to do so...
