Need any tweeks

Postby Padres Fan » Thu Sep 03, 2009 10:54 am

I took over a keeper team in a 12 team ESPN League, 2nd year. It's not a standard league as we play alot of defense positions seperately, the 8 keepers were set prior to me taking over (marked with a *), and I had first overall pick in the draft (My draft pick choices are marked)

How did I do? Could I make a upgrade somewhere?

you're RB's are not looking too good......Should have probably tried to draft an RB......McFadden as your #1 can't be a good thing.....not bad having him as a keeper.....

Don't necesarily see much help on the wire for this year.......I'd grab Coffee though.......for a keeper.....and maybe Gore ends up with issues

Unfortunately at draft time, since this was a 8 keeper league, there were no good RB left, and it was mainly filling in empty spots like Defenesive positions and kickers, and the 3 main RB's I have were inherited

Leon Washington could suprise. If you have room on your bench grab him. Plus being a keeper league T Jones might be on his way down and Leon will step right in next year.

I agree with Washington. I heard that they plan on getting him some touches. Might want to keep a eye on James Davis (Cle) Lewis is getting old

I don't know enough about IDP's to comment on those, but other than that I'll thow in my 2 cents...

First off, I think it's BS you couldn't claim who you were keeping, your team - should be your choice.

McFadden (I like his keeper potential) & Bush aren't bad, but at this point neither can be considered RB 1's, but there is no way in hell that McClain should have been kept.

Brady & Smith are flat out studs - you need big years out of those 2.

I like Cooley, he typically goes under the radar - I wouldn't be worried about last year's TD production, that was a fluke.

With 96 players off the board, I like 85 as your #2 WR & Driver is a good #3. Crabtree may help down the road (but that could hurt you badly next year if you can't get some sort of sample size in 09 and decide he's worth keeping - think Mike Williams, but worht a shot in round 9). Burelson was a steal in the 14th.

RB is going to be a problem - Fred Jackson could very well end up your RB1 until week 4 - that's not a good thing.

With Brady in tow, I would have looked at an option other than Sanchez in round 2.

IMO, you need to figure out a way to get your hand on a legit RB - in a keeper format w/ so much talent spoken for, that's going to be very difficult - you don't exactly have a glut of talent at any one position.

Wish I had some insite on the IDP stuff.

I became team owner 4 hours before the draft, so the keepers were already set by the previous owner
