Ok so here is my dilemma. I am in a 14 person league where each team gets to keep 2 players from their previous year's teams and the rounds snake around (i.e. the person with the last pick in first round has first pick in second round). This years 28 keepers are: LaDanian Tomlinson, Ryan Grant, Andre Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Kevin Smith, Stephen Jackson, Brandon Jacobs, Peyton Manning, DeAngelo Williams, Clinton Portis, Carson Palmer, Matt Forte, Randy Moss, Michael Turner, Calvin Johnson, Chris Johnson, Marion Barber, Brian Westbrook, Greg Jennings, Adrian Peterson, Steve Smith, and Steve Slaton/Marshawn Lynch (my 2 keepers). So my dilemma is that the person with the 3rd pick in the draft has offered me a trade of Philip Rivers and his 3rd overall pick for Steve Slaton and my 14th overall pick. If I did the trade, I would have Philip Rivers and Marshawn Lynch and then would have the 3rd (his) and 15th (mine) picks in the draft and then the remaining rounds would be the same. He would have Tom Brady, Steve Slaton, the 14th pick (mine) and the 26th pick (his). Considering who is already off the board for keepers, should I pull the trigger on this one or go with the two RB's I have and try to get a QB and WR with the 14th and 15th pick in the draft? Any suggestions on if I should modify the trade? - Help!! The draft is tonight and I don't know what to do.
I would not do this trade. There are 15 RB's kept so if you trade Slaton you would be looking at the 16th-19th best RB that you would have to take. If you stand pat atleast you have the choice of which direction to go with you first 2 picks.
What if I counter with him trading me Philip Rivers and his second round pick (26th) for Marshawn Lynch and my second round pick (15th) so that way by the end of the second round I would have Philip Rivers, Steve Slaton and the 14th and 26th picks and he would have Tom Brady, Marshawn Lynch, and the 3rd and 15th picks.... Would this be better?
He countered with Brady and his 26th pick for Slaton and my 15th pick. I don't think this is a good trade for me because I will have no RB for the first three weeks and I will only have 14th and 26th pick in first two rounds so I would have to get at least one RB (maybe two) and thus I am limiting myself in the quality of WR I can get if I have to wait plus the RB ranks are already thin with 16 of the 28 keepers being RB's....I think I might just stay with Slaton and Lynch...That being said...with the keepers noted above, is there a strategy for drafting positions I should follow??
Bad deal. I would just stick with your team and take Rogers/Matt Ryan/Romo/Warner at QB. You'll get great production out of them. You don't need Rivers man. Draft your QB and WR debth right away with that 14/15 pick thats what I would do.
'12 Team QB: Brady, Cutler RB: Ridley, Sjax, BGE, Bolden, Hardesty WR: Austin, Wayne, Stevie Johnson, M Williams, A Robinson TE: Gronkowski, Miller, Cook DEF: Falcons K: Hanson
Ok now he is saying he will trade me Rivers for draft picks. He wants me first and second round picks (14th and 15th picks after 28 keepers are taken out fo the equation)....So I would have a good QB and a good RB and a good RB (after Week 4) but then wouldn't draft a WR till 42 and 43rd pick. My last offer to him would be Rivers and a later round pick (13th round - out of 15 rounds total) for my first round pick (14th pick overall) and my 8th or 9th round pick. If I did that I would have Rivers, Slaton, and Lynch...I would still have the 15th pick in which I could grab a really good WR and then with 42 and 43rd picks could still pick good WR's or another RB or a Stud TE too...Any thoughts?
