Hello all and HAPPY ALMOST FOOTBALL!!!!!

I'm in a 10 team League that allows us ONE keeper per year. the keeper must be drafted, stay on your roster all year and be after the 5th round. Last year I took Chris Johnson in the 9th and Steve Slaton in the 12th. Both are obviously eligable for Keeping! Which one do I keep?? Please Help! I was all set on Slaton, but now reading about his carries being diminished at the goal line. Any thoughts or help is appreciated!

In my opinion there no question you keep Slaton. I don't believe the coach speak about the goal line carries. He just punched one in from 4 yards out last week.

I, unlike Azrael, believe that Houston will not give Slaton carries at the GL unless forced to by injury to Chris Brown. Now while that's likely to actually happen, it likely isn't going to happen in the first game. Owen Daniels has been a great red zone target for them and my assumption is that Andre Johnson could be a beast down there too. There are plenty of options once they get that close and the idea that they'd take that opportunity from those guys for Slaton (who proved last year he couldn't get it done) seems far-fetched to me.

The only reason I'd take Slaton is because I really think the Titans are in serious trouble this year and they won't have the advantage of playing ahead in games like last year. Chris Johnson will probably get plenty of catches though and you didn't say if this was a PPR league. But I think either way you need to go Slaton--just don't expect him to be the goal line back for at least half the season.
