Well, I don't know how I feel about this one. Didn't have time to prepare the way I should. What do you think? Feel free to tear me apart.
QBs - Romo, S Hill RBs - ADP, Portis, Addai, LJohnson, Lynch, J Jones WRs - Wayne, Cotchery, Morgan, Mushin Muhammed, Nate Washington TEs - O Daniels, Winslow, J Finley D/ST - TEN, CHI
QBs - I wanted McNabb. Almost grabbed Ryan instead, but I went with Romo simply because he's been preety consistent. Hopefully he can turn his crappy preseason around. I am actually pretty comfy with Hill as a QB2, he doesn't turn the ball over and plays the easiest schedule in the NFL
Obviously RB depth is not a problem. I was basically taking the best players available and not thinking about balance. It was hard to pass on some of those RBs where they were. Addai was probably the only one I would take back for another solid WR with the 5.1 pick.
WRs - too thin. Wayne will be a stud. Cotch and Morgan should both be solid. Washington has a hammy and was a bit of a gut pick, and Muhammed is a decent backup.
TEs - Owens gets tons of targets which is great in full PPR. Winslow is a top 3 TE when healthy IMO, and he had 90+ reception 2 and 3 years ago before losing time to injury last year. Finley was a flier I had to have, he was such a stud in camp.
I'll probably wait until somebody loses an RB and package Addai or whoever with a TE for a solid WR.
It's time to put down the crack-pipe and step away from the keyboard.
I think your take on your team is right on target. It's funny...I just had a 8-team PPR draft that fell similarly. I had intended on going WR heavy, but MJD fell to me at 1.5, and RBs were just the best value at most picks after that. I had 5 RBs before I picked my WR2. I can't fault your strategy at all, as I'm sure it'll help you later rather than take guys like Roy Williams or Vincent Jackson who were likely available when you picked some of those RBs.
I don't like Romo as a starter, but again that's a product of your draft strategy (which was fine), and I think Hill is a good QB2. Romo probably has as much chance of working out fine as not. Yes starting and depth at RB is great...look for trades as the year progresses and things pan out. Hopefully guys like Addai and Lynch pan out and can be used as trade bait for a stud WR (or, actually, Portis might be the guy you want to trade as he typically starts out hot (and has a favorable early schedule) then fades down the stretch. I don't know about keeping 3 TEs, esp. when you can only start one. Yes, Daniels is $ in PPR, so I don't think you needed Winslow as a backup. He has upside, but he's too inconsistent, injury prone, a head-case, and in a bad QB and overall situation in TB. I like Finley as a super-sleeper TE, but I'm guessing in a 10-team league he probably wouldn't have been drafted and could have been a WW pickup. I don't know if you could get trade value for either of those guys for, not a stud, but a decent WR (D. Jackson?...probably a pipe dream), but it's worth a try. Or, if you feel that highly on Winslow, try offering Daniels...you don't need em both.
Yes, WRs (besides Wayne) are weak, again as a product of your draft strategy rather than anything you did. This is especially worrysome since you have to start 3. Morgan was everyone's sleeper a couple weeks ago, and I have him on 2 of my rosters, but the positivity has toned down on him quite a bit recently. Washington goes the otherway....he dropped quite a bit cuz of injury, but it looks like he'll be alright and I think now he's great value. Muhammad I just don't like, and if you have to pick up off the WW either he, Finley, or your backup Def is your first drop. Overall this team can definitely compete, and I can't be too negative because I took the exact same strategy w/ one of my teams.
The problem I see is that you have to start 3 WR and you're too thin there. You definitely should have passed on Addai and went with a WR. Let us know who was still on the board.
In a PPR league, you might have done better with MJD at #1. Here's the first-pick team in my 10-team ppr league: QB: Brady (Romo) RB: MJD, Larry Johnson, (F Jackson, L Washington, Mendenhall) WR: Jennings, S Moss, V Jackson (A Bryant, I Bruce) TE: Keller K: Bironas DST: Giants

Eh, I think the team looks okay. Everyone is all WR happy these days so in all of my drafts i went in with the idea of trying to leave the WR spot my weakest. Cause it was probably going to be anyways with the way people were drafting WRs. IMO if you dont get AJ, Fitz, or Calvin, the next 10 guys are damn close. I mean Jennings and Wayne are like the second tier but after that its about even and luck starts playing into it more than anything else.
Taking Romo over Ryan? I had Romo the past few seasons as one of my keepers. I loved him at first. Just seemed like when it really mattered late in the year he failed on me every single time. You stated that one of the reasons you took him over Ryan was that he was consistent. Romo throws a ton of interceptions, where Ryan doesnt throw that many at all. I guess this is what makes FF so much fun. Different opinions on players.
Did you consider taking MJD with your first pick??

Agree w/ the thin in WR department, especially concerning since you start 3.
Also agree that the depth of your RB stable is definately the strength of this team, unfortunately no flex & you are going to be leaving lots of points on your bench every week. Also, I see little "wow" factor past AP. Don't get me wrong - I love me some Portis, but he has lots of tread on those tires, plays in the toughest divsion in football & the Washington offense isn't exactly dynamic. I love the Lynch pick. Gotta be hoping that between LJ, Addai, or Jones - 1 gets off to a hot start and you can package w/ 1 of your 3 TE's & a WR not named Wayne to (hopefully the C. Taylor owner) for a legit WR2 (and hopefully Chester).

Yes. He was going to be my 1st pick, then he hurt his knee and was going in for MRIs as my draft started. I actually explained all my pick thoughts and circumstances at the beginning of my post.
Thanks all for the advice. Hopefully I'll be able to package and make some moves to balance things out.

I think I would have passed on Romo and hoped that Ryan or Schaub would be around on my next pick to get a WR...(its tough picking 1st for that reason.) I think the overall consensus is that you definitely need help at WR, but I think you have some trading material to work with. You could arguably start any one of your Rbs on any given week, plus if you're willing to get rid of Romo I bet you could find some one who is hurting for a QB and get a 2nd trier WR. (Jennings type.)
I personally think you have a playoff bound team. You have a stud at every position, and I think for a PPR league, where WRs have more weight, getting 2 WR1s is awesome. You got 3. I think Morgan will be fine this year. You simply cannot pass on Addai in the 5th round.
And I'm sure I will get burned for this now, during the season and at the end, but I've had MJD in my PPR leagues for the last two years, and he can kiss my butt with his productivity. I understand that this year is different because of injuries, but he's yet to prove himself as STUD category and everyone is drafting him as the second coming...ADP over MJD all day every day.
