Great, Good, or Mediocre? 12 team non PPR

Postby Shamrock61 » Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:57 am

Drafted #4 in a 12 team serpentine draft...thoughts?
Standard. Non PPR - 4pts for Pass TD, 3 bonus pts for 100 yds rushing and receiving and 220 yds passing.
My starting lineup can have 1-4 RB, 1-4 WR, and 0-4 TE - totaling 5 players. (So in reality it is 1 RB, 1 WR, and 3 Flex spots)

QB - Shaub - (4,9)
RB - MJD - (1,4)
RB - Gore - (2,9)
WR - Calvin Johnson - (3,4)
WR - Breaston - (10,9)
Flex - McFadden - (7,4)
K - Rackers (16,9)
(I'm starting Breaston and not playing Bowe, Cotchery, F. Jackson, or Olsen based on match-ups for this week. Thoughts?)

Reserves :
QB - Ryan
RB - F. Jackson, Norwood
WR - Bowe, Cotchery, S. Smith (NYG), Hester
TE - Olsen

*There were 10 QBs taken in the 1st 3 rounds - I decided to avoid the run and got Gore & Calvin Johnson at 2 and 3

Non PPR
1pt - 20 yd pass + 3 pt bonus at 280 yd pass
1pt - 10 yd rush + 3 bonus at 100 yd rushing
1pt - 10 yd rec + 3 bonus at 100 yds receiving
6pt for rush/rec TD
4pts for pass TD
1-4 RB, 1-4 WR, and 0-4 TE - so it's like 1 RB, 1 WR, and 3 Flex spots

In a 12-team league, I'd feel a lot better if you had 3 guaranteed starting RBs (I know DMC has been hyped a lot, but it's still a time share). I don't think Norwood or Jackson are good long term backup solutions. I do think you have good WRs and your QB combo should be above average on any given week. I think you should be an above average team with a chance to be really good if you make an astute trade or two (very possible with your depth).

Thanks for the help!

Pretty darn good team; lots of versatility. I really like your QB combo; you can mix and match based on matchups (and both are poised to have good years; provided Schaub can stay healthy). Excellent RB core; really the strength of your team imo. Fred Jackson could provide a nice flex option the first 3 games; and I'm very High on Mcfadden this year. But I do agree that Jackson and Norwood are only short term backups; you might want to keep an eye on the WW for at least one serviceable RB during the bye weeks. Solid WR core; I like Megatron and BOWE (I just like saying it out loud...BOWE lol) as a nice WR duo. Personally I wouldn't sit Bowe any week, regardless of whether Cassel is playing next week or not; but then again, if the match up is right; then it's never a bad idea. Hester could turn up to be a sleeper; and Olsen is sure to see targets on that team. Overall, I think it's about match ups if you keep your current roster; your team is good enough to go deep with the players you have. It wouldn't hurt to think about if you want an upgrade for a flex spot; (trading wise) but overall I think you got a solid lineup! Hope this helps!

I appreciate the replies, and I am looking to package some players to get another serviceable RB - the nice thing is that I only HAVE to start one RB each week if needed. We can set our lineup with 1-4 RB, 1-4 WR, and 0-4 TE...so it's not as bad as it may look.
