How sad was that "vulnerable position call" vs Georgia?

I like the spirit of the rule, but they have to be a lot more conservative with the flag on this one. The Okla St reciever was basically in contact with the ball when he got hit and the defenders solid play prevented him from catching it. Horrible interpretation of the rule. What do they think they're NBA refs now?

Both NCAA and NFL are going overboard. Yes, I want the players to be as protected as possible. No, I don't want the game to be changed. Compromise, make better equipment. NFL and NCAA are becoming cockeyed, sissier versions of football.

Bah...depends on who's making the calls and what game you're watching. I've seen a bunch of games with calls that should have been called that weren't. Did you watch the Fresno St./Boise St. game last night? If you're a fan of offense, or don't like defense, it was a great. Anyway there were some huge hits in that game, some huge hits that really should have fallen under this "vunerable position" crap. Even some old no no stuff that draws flags like spearing and leading with the helmet went on in that game that wasn't called.

I agree that it is sissying up the game some, but football is hardly a sissy game. And really I don't think it's going to get all that bad, week 1 the officials are feeling out the new "rules." They'll lay off as the season goes on and more and more every year. :-?
