Return Yards rules + IDP

Return Yards rules + IDP

I'm in a 10-team league with the following rules for kick/punt returns:

IKRTD - Individual Kick Return TD 6 points
IKRYd - Individual Kick Return Yards 0 - 25 IKRYds = 1 point for every 25 IKRYds
IPRTD - Individual Punt Return TD 6 points
IPRYd - Individual Punt Return Yards 0 - 15 IPRYds = 1 point for every 15 IPRYds

I've put a watch flag on players like Josh Wilson, McKelvin, etc...
Do these rules benefit picking up a DB punt/kick returner enough to replace a typical linebacker on my IDP roster (we start 3 IDP each week)?

I think that with those rules, a good punt/kick returning DB could definitely match the points of a typical LB. Terrence McGee (CB, Buf) used to return both punts & kicks. He was one of the top DB's in my leagues that counted punt/kick returns. In my leagues that didn't count them...he was a middle of the road DB...maybe even a bench player. Good luck! ;-D

Josh Wilson CB-Sea will be a stud for IDP+Return Yards this year. He still has a grasp on the return duties and if he produces anything close to what he did last year he will once again be at the top of the scoring heap in an IDP+return yard league.

Others to consider:

Chris Carr - Baltimore. He will not have big tackle numbers week to week, but should secure the return duties and pitch a couple to a handle full of tackles in week to week.

Daniel Mannings - Chicago. Another fulltime starter on the stout Chicago defense and also will return kickoffs along side Devin Hester, saying that you can expect a good number of yards as teams try to kick away from Hester.

Leodius McKelvin - Buffalo. McKelvin should turn out to be the Terrence McGee of recent years for the Bills. As long as McKelvin can keep the turnovers to a minimum (fumble week 1 on a controversial play against the Patriots) he will hold onto the return duties.

Antrel Rolle - Arizona. Rolle keeping the Punt Return duties will be 100% determined by how healthy Breaston is when he returns and how much the Cards want to risk his healthy on punt returns. If Rolle keeps the job apon Breaston's return he could turn out to be a gem, last year he had 89 total tackles and has showed some 'return-ability' as posted with him returning 4 of his career 8 interceptions for TDs (323 total yards in 8 attempts). Its a whole different ball game with an actually punt team on the field rather then an offense trying to make tackles, but Rolle has shown the ability to make men miss.

Hope this helps!
