Should I drop a WR for Earl Bennett?

Postby waswik » Wed Sep 09, 2009 1:20 pm

Earl Bennett (CHI) is still a FA in my league and I am wondering if I should pick him up or not.

Here is my roster:
QBs: Big Ben, Cassell
WRs: T Owens, Hines Ward, Chris Henry, Lav Coles, Josh Morgan
RBs: Westbrook, Brandon Jacobs, Reggie Bush, Le'Ron McClain
TE: Witten
K: Akers
DEF: New Orleans, New England

The question is who should I drop in order to pick up Earl Bennett and is he worth it? I just think he has some upside since Cutler will be throwing it to him, perhaps he might be something like Eddie Royal was last year.

My top candidates for droppage: Josh Morgan, Le'Ron, and either NOLA or NE.

What do you think? Also, any comments on my team would be appreciated. I think I just got stuck with a bunch of old guys and will be hurting mid-late season when they are all on IR...so I need to build up my second stringers...THANKS!
QB: Matt Stafford
WR: Roddy White
WR: Pervcy Harvin
WR: Jeremy Maclin
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Reggie Bush
TE: Anthony Gonzales
K: Gostkowski
DEF: Baltimore

BENCH: Peyton Hillis, Anquan Boldin, Ryan Williams, Mario Manningham, James Jones, and Robert Turbin

Definitely cut NO Def... no need to carry two defenses. You might want to wait and play NO against Detroit over the Patriots v. Buffalo, but NO is definitely the drop.

Thanks for the help with mine.

Saints DEF is a matchup play at best, as they are in Week 1 but there's no need to carry 2 DEFs -- drop Saints D for Bennett.

Help me out with mine? viewtopic.php?t=444447

Well, as luck would have it, the Saints play DET this week...which is the only reason I have them on my roster. I agree that I wouldn't have them on my roster otherwise. Should I still drop the Saint D, put NE up against Buff this week, and pick up Bennett? By the way, Nate Burleson is also still a FA...

I agree with everyone else. No need or 2 DEF in most leagues. Bennett might not pan out but it wont cost anything if you drop a Def
