Give me one deep sleeper at WR

Postby stats79 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 7:32 pm

14 team league. i have an expendable player. definitely need to fill a WR backup slot, maybe even a starter.

this team is pretty sharp so almost all the big names are gone, even the trendy sleepers

some names on waivers:

j walker, cribbs, higgins, maclin, bess, garcon, butler ... you get the caliber thats left

Get Macklin. Or if you want a really deep sleeper get Kenny Britt WR TEN. I know that's a name you haven't heard.

Britt is gone. Maclin is available.

How about Earl Bennett from Chicago, Lance Moore (NO) or Josh Morgan (SF), or for a great potential sleeper how about Peyton Mannings new toy, Austin Collie (Peyton has show great interest this guy and has dedicated a great deal of extra practice time with him during the pre season)

My list would go like this:

#1 - Lance Moore : He's the #2 WR in NO and with Brees throwing ot him he should be a solid #3 WR. There is a real good chance he's taken though.

#2 - Higgins : Russel seemed to look to him a lot at the end of last year. I don't know if they just have chemestry of if he just lined up in the area of the field where Russell was comfortable looking but it WAS evident. If that continues this year then I could EASILY see Higgins becoming a legit #2 WR putting up 800-900 ydr and 8+ TD's. While not overly exciting, those numbers should put him in the top 24 of the league and that's a #2 WR in a 12 team league.

#3 - Josh Morgan : This is a real gamble here and will either be feast or famine. If he gets the chance he could be the go-to guy in SF but he could also get buried and end up being the #3 or #4 WR on SF meaning he'd have almost no fantasy value at all (he might explode for 12 points in one or 2 games but he'll also put up 8-10 games where he'd get you maybe 3 points if he's the #3 or #4 WR in SF). Again, this is a real high risk/high reward pick.

These are 3 guys I'll be targetting tomorrow night (we draft the first 2 rnds on-line and the rest during the opening game). I'll try and get Moore as my #3 WR in about the 8th rnd (he'll probably be gone but that will be ok) but I'll definitely be taking a chance on at least one of Higgins and Morgan (and there's a damned good chance I'll take both). I only draft 1 QB, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 Def so I can draft 5 RB's and 6 WR's. Then I drop 1 dud WR and pick up a QB/TE/K/Def off the WW during bye weeks. I have to make certain that those 4 positions don't have cooresponding bye weeks so it gets a little tricky at the draft but finishing 1st, 3rd and 5th in a 12 team league the last 3 years this system had worked for me.

thanks guys. great writeup sheethappens. Moore and Morgan went in our draft, and I'll keep a close eye on Higgins, who is available. I have jamarcus so that would be a good thing if he turns out well.

I ended up doing this. Taking Chaz Schillens and putting him on my IR slot. Then I took Josh Cribbs. Good luck to you all, I will most definitely keep all the guys you mentioned on my radar.

Troy Williamson or Mike Walmer-Sims, I dont see alot in the tank for Torry Holt. Troy is the the #2 guy right now but Walker just came back & is looking to jump back in as well. I think either would be decent right now.
