10th overall pick - Who do I take??

Postby dciguy01 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 9:37 pm

Need some help guys. I am doing fantasy football for the first time in a couple years so I may be a little rusty...

This is a 10 team snake draft on ESPN. I get picks #10 and #11. Who do I take?

Tough to say without knowing more about scoring. Is this a PPR league?

Of course you always have to go with the flow of your draft, and since you are turning the corner at every other round you might have to anticipate position runs.

That low I'd go for a stud WR unless a great RB falls to you. With the next pick I'd seriously think about another stud WR. Imagine having Fitz and Andre or Andre and Megatron. Not too shabby. Of course grabbing a solid RB is never a bad idea, but you probably won't land a stud--so that's why I suggest WR/WR.

On your next 2 back to back picks you might anticipate a QB run and get a tier 2 QB, assuming Brady, Manning, and Brees are already gone. You don't want to wait 18 more picks before getting your starting QB.

Best of luck! Please see mine:

Depends on what's left. If Fitz is there, you should probably take him and pair him with an RB (S. Jackson, Gore, Barber).

im not a big fan of stock piling in one particular position, i much prefer to spread the wealth if and when possible. your in a perfect position to potentially land a stud at 2 positions. i drafted 10/11 in a ppr and landed Chris Johnson and Andre Johnson. Both legit picks at 10/11 in a non ppr format as well. i think you could potentially land a similar combo. Id def look for Fitz/Andre/Moss/Megatron and the next best back on the board

Honestly, there's no definative "take this guy at #10 and this one at #11" out there. YOU must know the scoring of your league, YOU must know what the draft tendacies of the other owners is (if possible), and YOU must make an adjustment/evaluation of the draft after the first 9 picks have gone by and you are on the clock.

If oyu haven't done your homework ahead of time and come up with your own rankings then the best thing to do is to go to ESPN and print out a copy of the top 200 averaged out from all their on-line drafts. It will give you a good idea of where most players ar taken though it isn't custom tailored to your own league scoring rules nor does it take into account the tendacies of the other owners in your league.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I will give you this piece of advice, DON'T take LT at #10 unless everyone else took RB's too. LT should be right around the #10-#12 RB this year. He'll hit that magical age of 30 this season and that's when even fanasy studs drop off into oblivion. Also, LT has carried the ball many more times then most backs by his age and total carries is also a major contributor in the drop-off (actually, the carries IS the reason for the drop-off, it's just that most studs hit the magic number at age 30, LT actually hit that number last year and it showed in his stats last year too so expect an even bigger drop off this season). LT should be a decent #2 RB this season but you really don't want to rely on him to be your #1.
