Trade Offer - Rodgers & RB for Cutler & Forte?

Postby Oranje » Wed Sep 09, 2009 11:06 pm

First Post.
I play in a 12 Team League where QBs get 6 points for a TD. No PPR.
Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST

I have:
QB - Rodgers & Orton
RB - Barber, K Smith, L Washington & Beanie Wells
WR - R Moss, Housh, Driver, Avery & Chris Henry

Another player has Cutler as his only QB, is a huge Packers fan and wants to upgrade. He has:
RB - Forte, S Jackson, J Lewis, J Norwood & K Moreno
WR - R White, V Jackson, H Ward, I Bruce & Muhammad

Is it worth trading Rodgers & K Smith for Cutler & Forte? Should I try to also upgrade at WR, Driver for Jackson? Do I give up too much by losing Rodgers?

I would keep your team. Rodgers is in for a huge year, where as Cutler has a mediocre receiving corps surrounding him.

And laugh all you want, I could see Kevin Smith having a better (or at close to the same) fantasy season as Forte this year. The guy had 976 yards, 8 TD's, and 39 receptions in only 12 starts last year, and he's only going to get better. Yeah, you could say the same about Forte, but how many top 5 RB's from 2008's draft (LT, Westbrook, Peterson, Jackson, Addai) had a top 5 fantasy season last year?

I'd stick with your team.

Personally, I have your combo producing about 10-15 more points over the full season so essentially they are equal. HOWEVER, I would NOT do this trade simply because that in week 5 you would have both your #1 QB and your #1 RB on bye weeks and that is almost a guarrenteed loss. Though they are in the same division, The Lions (K Smith's team) does NOT share a bye week with the rest of their division, they are off in week 7. That menas you get to split up the bye weeks of what SHOULD be your 2 best and most consistant point producers. With only having to play one backup you should still have a solid chance of winning BOTH weeks and not have to eat week 5 as most likely an automatic loss.

Great advice. I am sticking with the team I drafted.
