Right now I'm a little weak at RB and want to trade for Kevin Jones from a team that is weak at WR. What would be some good trade offers that the other team might accept and that will cost me the least. I won't be able to make the trade until after this weekend though because the team I want to trade with is the team I'm playing week 1.
I'm in a 13 team re draft league that has standard scoring and no ppr. Each team starts: QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB/WR/TE. K, DEF and has 7 bench spots.
My Team: QB: P. Manning RB: Moreno WR: Fitzgerald WR: Roy Williams TE: T. Gonzalez Flex: Bush K: J. Brown Def: Eagles Bench: Hasselbeck, D.Ward, Shonn Greene, Mike Bell, Breaston, Maclin, Shockey
Other Team: QB: Rodgers RB: Turner WR: Santana Moss WR: Desean Jackson TE: Shiancoe Flex: Kevin Smith K: Elam Def: Vikings Bench: Trent Edwards, Stafford, Jamal Lewis, Sproles, Nate Washington, Bo Scaife, Packers
Well, if I'm the other team I look at it this way, I don't really have a another RB so when Turner is on bye then I'm screwed if I trade Smith. Second, as you stated my WR's are already weak so nobody I have on the bench could step into that flex role and do a better job than Smith. Even if you trade me a WR and they are better than either/both Moss and Jackson, the best it would do would be to bump Moss or Jackson down to the Flex position and they'd STILL be playing. Thus, to me, the only way I'd trade you Smith would be if I'm getting back a player who can play in the flex positon and will be better than Smith (IMO). Looking at your team, the ONLY player I'd trade Smith to you for would be Fitz. I have Smith scoring around 110 points this year and only 5 WR's doing better than that (and Fitz is at the top of the WR list IMO). That is a trade that you'd never do so honestly, I don't think you have any chance for getting him. I MIGHT do Smith for Moreno + Williams. I think that from a week to week point production POV my team (I'm the other team remember) would be about the same but I'd increase my bench some and that would definitely help when bye weeks come around.
Thanks for the insight. Do you think Bush or Ward would be useful pieces if they have big games? Also, I'm not sure if this person knows what she has. I think she made the pick based off of the draft system having Smith being ranked as the best RB available since the system had pre set rankings for each player. Any ideas on what would be a reasonable offer if she doesn't really know who Smith is?
Actually, I think Bush will be a decent player for you. I think his points will be very volitile meaning he'll have 3 games where he'll get you 5 points and then exp[lode for 20+ points and then back to 5 points for 3 games before again exploding for 20+ points. He'll probably have 4-5 games where he's in the top 10 points for RBs for the week (3 of them he'll be a tp 3 back), probably 3-4 games where he's somewhere around the 15th-18th back in scoring and then 7-9 games where he's somewhere arounf the 20th-25th best back in points for that week. It's not ideal but I think it's ok and that you aren't in as bad of shape as you think. I wouldn't over pay to only get a minor upgrade.
Ya I have good feelings about Bush this season too. I'm just worried about him getting injured especially if its early before Moreno is back in the starting role. I would ideally like to get smith without giving up Bush or Moreno but that seems like I would need to get lucky with something like Ward and Breaston/Maclin scoring big points this weekend and the other team thinking they are worth trading for. Thanks a lot for the help
Thanks for posting in my thread. I agree with the other poster. If I was the other owner and trade away Smith then I'd be screwed. Plus, why would I want to mess with an RB lineup that is fine just as it is? It will probably be hard prying Smith away from its owner so you'd probably have to blow him away with an offer. Hopefully, you get lucky this weekend and Breaston gets good numbers to raise his value. You probably should try to trade Mike Bell in this trade seeing as his value after Week 1 will go down. You should also wait on Ward's value, which is way down right now but I really think he's the best of the three in Tampa Bay and he'll be out there trying to prove that he is first string quality.
I'm afraid to say that if I was the other owner, I wouldn't give up Smith without getting Roy Williams in return, at the least. If you offered me Williams and Ward for Smith, I'd do it. But then, you would end up being the team weak at WR.
