help me start 4 comparable players in a PPR

Postby two_step08 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 10:16 am

as i said PPR league...1 WR and 1 RB with 2 flex

i got:
ronnie brown
clinton portis
ray rice
cedric benson
randy moss
wes welker
v. jackson

and some other slightly lower guys

now i'm starting moss and welker at WR...then i got 2 more--im leaning towards ronnie and portis or rice...rice is not guaranteed as many points as portis, but has the higher potential of the 2...i am a big fan of rice--but hes ranked the 10thish back this week which is a bit outrageous considering hes on a 3 man platoon
so mainly portis or rice--so far im leaning with rice b/c of the PPR

I would go with Moss, Welker, and then Brown and Rice. Both will get their fair share of touches and should catch a fair share of check downs and screen passes. Portis is tough to bench and I could see you playing him over Rice in a standard league, but in a PPR I like Rice's potential to catch 5-8 check down passes and screens. Portis will be lucky to catch 2 balls all night.

believe me benson is tempting me cuz hes gonna get so many carries....

on a side note...my other PPR league---need to start 2 RBs
slaton (hes obviously 1)
k smith
r bush
mcfadden
benson

^^not as easy as it looks to call---with thomas injured, reggie should get plenty of touches including recs. which is big...im between smith bush and benson here--all quite close

and finally..my non ppr league...start 2RBs/3WRs...1 point for 6 rush yards...
at WR im starting jennings, royal, v jax over ginn holmes moore--any opposing opinions

and at RB: i need 2--keep in mind rush yards are at a premium
mcfadden
benson
k smith
r grant
s jax

so far im leaning towards s jax...then between grant smith and benson

In your 2nd PPR league I'd go with Benson over Bush, Benson will get far more carries. I think Bell will get the most touches with Bush maybe lining up as a slot receiver. But I don't think the extra catches for Bush will make up for Benson's production.

You're right, my draft wasn't great but my WRs are my only question. I only need to start 2 WRs as long as I have an RB in at flex. But the rest of my draft went very well. Rivers at QB, Gates at TE, and Steelers at D and S JAx and T Jones at RB1 and RB2. Thanks for your help.

Im not buying into the Cedric Benson hype. Hes averaging like 700 yards a season and a few TDs over the past three years. I need to see some production before Id even think about starting him for any other reason then a Bye week fill in or to account for an injury on my squad
